USB Error Code

I am electronically/computer challenged, but hoping there is an easy way to fix this. I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows Vista. I was trying to transfer pics from my Kodak EasyShare camera, which I have been doing for a couple years now with no problems, but now I get the error code USB Device Not Recognized. I have powered off, reboot, etc. The error code still pops up even though the camera is no longer connected. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

I tried 3 ports. It happens on all of them.

Owbist, thanks for the link. The hotfix isn't there and the links on the page take you back to Microsoft pages and they are no longer supporting Windows ME. I sent an e-mail to the notebook card manufacturer for their assistance and also sent one to the camera manufacturer. Will see what they say. Does anyone have the hotfix that I need?

The water is turned on. When I look at the service manual, it tells me this... "The motor control module has measured a voltage from the valve diagnostic circuit that indicates the cold valve or both the cold and hot valve or dispensing valves are faulty. This most likely is that the valve harness has not been connected correctly or the valve(s) is open circuit - Check the valve harnesses are correctly fastened to the valves and the motor control module or the pins are not bent back. -Measure the resistance of the cold and hot valve coils - Replace the Motor Controller Module" I looked for loose connections and did not anything out of order. I do not know how to check the resistance between the hot and cold valves. Dadoes, After your unit gives you the error, do you have to do anything special to restart it? Any other suggestions? I would return it for a new one, but this was the last one at Lowes in my region. :( Thanks again!

For some reason none of this bothers me. I can get here with a couple clicks. Minor search. It has been a tough year...close to 600,000 and many still recovering from long standing health issues from covid. Houzz employees may still be working from home. A re-haul from the 'genius' computer dept will always be a jiggly foggy 'what?!'/why. It is complicated and sometimes 'smoke and mirrors'. A reason exists but we just don't know why. No real steady/daily moderators here. HotTopics was eliminated maybe due to so much flagging that would become an annoyance.

1. Unplug (not just turn off) you PC.
2. Unplug all your USB devices from your PC.
3. Wait 30 minutes or more. Go have dinner or coffee...
4. Plug in your essential USB devices (keyboard, mouse).
5. Plug in your PC, turn it on.
6. Pop in the rest of your USB devices.

Why the 30 minutes? I understand everything else as it pertains to a cold, hard start. What am I missing?

I'm betting that it gives time for the memory to completely deplete. Kind of like a hard reset.

To tell you the truth I am not sure why the 30 min, I only discovered those instructions from a Google Search, when I first saw it I said to myself. "It only takes 8 minutes for the Suns light to reach earth at 93Million miles away." Electrons move pretty quick!!!!!!!!

Memory (Ram) is cleared out on a reboot so I don't think that's it. The only other device that could store a voltage would be a pretty big capacitor on the machine, if there was a big capacitor it would most likely be in the power supply circuit. Caps that big are unheard of in the desktops Laptops we use today. Could it have something to do with the BIOS Battery??????????????????
