identify a china pattern

I am trying to identify my grandmother's china pattern. I have checked with Replacements, they were unable to identify. Pictured is a demitasse cup and saucer, and the green crown backstamp with no other words, symbols, letters, or numbers. Please help me identify this pattern. Thank you, Suzi

The green crown looks like the one used by Nippon:

Maybe this will help in your search. You might also search Wallendorf Meisssen.

I may be wrong but the base of the cup looks more like pottery than china. From the thickness at the lip's they may not be of the same set.

I don't have the actual dishes at my house. It is a set that my daughter in law's grandmother left her. I sent the picture to Replacements.com and I did find out however that the pattern is a Johnson Brothers pattern JB169. However as of yet have not found a teapot which sadly was broken. If I recall correctly I believe that the only thing that was on the back was the name "Johnson Brothers".

Not to burst OP's bubble but the prices on replacements have almost no basis in reality. There are a plethora of Limoges china dinner sets floating around because no one wants them just as there is loads of antique brown furniture which can't be given away. I have a similar set of Limoges inherited from my grandmother which no one in the family wanted. My generation already has one if not two sets from grandmother and mother :-) and it isn't the taste nor does it fit the lifestyle of those setting up households.

C&F stands for Cochran and Fleming, doing business 1896-1920. Rowena is most likely the pattern name. I did not find any examples of your china. Do you have a set of this china or just one plate?

The first is fine Austrian/Bavarian china dating about the turn of the century and maybe up to 20 years later. Decorated by someone else not at the factory. The second is the much sought after hand painted Nippon product of the Morimuro brothers who went on to produce Noritake. The term Nippon was in use after 1891 when the McKinley tariff act mandated that all imports must be labeled with the country or origin, and Nippon stopped being used in 1921 when the law said that all marks must be in English...Nippon was a Japanese term for Japan

Yes, they are from the same set with the same backstamp, and definitely porcelain and not pottery.

Thank you, I've been looking at the Nippons. The Nippon crowns are similar, but not exact. My china backstamp is a detailed green crown, with no other words, letters, numbers or symbols. Very frustrating! It could be bone china - it is very white and translucent.

In china marks similar doesn't mean a thing. One green crown is not like another just because it's green.
May very well be bone china.
