Lots of really good light is necessary. Trying to differentiate between the navy blue pants and the black pants and then trying to find socks that match is hard without good lighting. I'm always having to bring my stuff out of the closet into the bedroom where the light is better to figure it out. I have a mix of hangers - padded ones for blouses, clipped ones for skirts, my Dh likes wooden ones for suit jackets and I like really strong ones for my jeans - and those are really hard to find these days. Costco often sells nice packages of hangers. Think about what you are storing other than clothes - shoes, purses (I have a deeper shelf at the top for purses so as to keep those pesky straps under control and they are in cubbies that hold about 4 purses each), accessories such as scarves, belts.

What about a hidden inner closet for storing valuables or ? So it looks like a large closet, but there is a hidden panel/passage to another closet. :)

Thanks for some of the lovely options posted. The home is already built. So this is the space :) No worries there is lots of windows in the home including master bedroom and bathroom. This is above garage, hence the length. The 6.8" would not be less than 6.5", I shall measure tomorrow and update. Separate storage allocated for shoe closet, personal preference to have shoes setup separate & inside the home shoes are different than outside :). Luggage is probably the only storage planned for basement, more so now than before sadly. Storage needs - Purses, jewelry, cloths all kinds - daily home and work, yoga, tennis, dressy & party etc. I like kayozzy and bpath idea, at the entry to the left have a purse/jewelry narrow closet. Just like kayozzy said, at the bump out there is dressing area planned with sconces ( there is a vanity area in the master bath). Then there is that 8ish feet long deeper section with a window across, how best to use this space - 1) Should this be the dressing table area because of the depth and the window across for natural light... 2) Maybe a deeper under cabinets with counter. if possible some kind of pull out island... Then have upper cabinets come to the counter. 3) Maybe pantry like tall pull outs, I like this but this means it will all be closed. I want to be able to see everything, out of sight out of mind :) Having said this given the narrowness of the space, is it ok to have glass door ( maybe a few mirror doors) or have no doors... Is closed storage a cleaner look... I do like the idea of kayozzy for the 30' long wall to have of lengths of storage closets. I also like bluemarble idea of mirrors and velvet curtains at the windows. Should there be seating with storage at the windows? About material is generally used for closet, wood, UV or some kind of Acrylic (plywood and MDF), anyone has any thoughts on these materials please chime in, would appreciate it. Random thoughts: - All three have the bathroom entrance right by a sleeper's head. This is a major flaw. - I'm ambivalent about closets-entered-through-bathrooms. - Thoughts on #2, though it appears first in the line-up: This one seems to be the most straightforward, which is a positive. I'd like to see a few more inches devoted to the 32" toilet area. I'd also like to see a window above the toilet to bring in some natural light. Where is the shower head? Ideally it'd be in the same wall as the sink and toilet ... this would be a money-saver. I'd consider losing the bench /replacing it with a moveable teak stool. I don't see much storage in this bathroom ... I'd downsize to one sink and place a linen tower on one end of the vanity. Finally, the closet -- I'd go with hanging rods on the two sides /a shoe tower in the middle /across from the door. - Thoughts on #1, which appears second: Doors are a problem here ... you don't want a pocket door on a bathroom; they're great for rooms that stay open most of the time (pantry, laundry), but they're more difficult to use, and they will break. The shower door's swing blocks the bathroom door ... perhaps a sliding shower door. Also, I'd want the bench against the bedroom wall /the shower head, which is likely to be more noisy, on the opposite wall. The toilet area is going to feel narrow; you may find yourself knocking your elbows against these narrow walls. This bathroom area seems to "feel smaller" than #2. I think you actually have more storage in the two closets, but I personally think I'd rather have the whole closet together in one spot -- no reason, just personal opinion on the closet. Something that's not opinion: The closet door should swing outward ... this will allow you to store things on the "empty" closet wall; for example, you could hang hats, jewelry or other accessories on this closet wall. - Thoughts on #3: Again, the pocket door. This downsized vanity cannot support duplicate sinks. I like the wider shower, but the door swing is difficult ... a sliding shower door would be better. Same thoughts on closet door swing. I like the reach-in closet better than the one in #1 ... opening into the bedroom (rather than the entry hall) seems nicer. I'd want a window above the toilet for some natural light. My personal opinion: I'd go with #2. It's the most straightforward layout and seems to utilize the space best. But, above all, I'd want the bathroom door away from the sleeper's head.
