what kind of insect is this?

found three within two days. it’s about the size of a black bean. can anyone identify this? thank you!

could you be a bit more specific of where wonderland is located .. bugs vary by location.. big city name ...

if i saw those antennae ... my first though is cricket ... but that pretty WAGish ...

were any of your plants outside last summer.. or recently???

weird pic.. isnt that a pic of your hand. holding your phone.. taking a pic of the bug ... in a mirror.. the longer i looked at it.. the more confused i got ... all mc escher ... lol ...

hahahaha i’m cracking up. wonderland is also known as eastern virginia. it is a picture of my hand in a mirror... it was the only way i could get a picture of one i didn’t squish right away. they haven’t been found near plants. the antennae has given me issues with identifying it. but the small white/yellowish horizontal stripe on its abdomen seems to be a good place to start. i’ve been looking at pictures! the only other thing that i could consider relevant is that it’s been rainy here for the last two weeks so not sure if he and his friends are looking for a dry spot

I've found several effective ways to deal with even infestations from hell. One is a mixture of Safer Soap and Neem Oil, applied via a pump-up time garden sprayer. It has enough pressure and the handle gan be rotated so I can spray the tops and bottoms of plants. The last time they got real bad, anytime I would see one aphid, I would spray every plant. These were seedlings, so I didn't use all that much spray, but if you let one live, the next day you will have 1,000. Another concoction I read about and tried was boiling tomato leaves and mixing it with water. It certainly eradicated the buggers but I made it a bit too strong and burnt some leaves. No long term damage but I was sweating it for a few days. Sprinkling garlic powder on the soil helps, especially after a Safer Soap/Neem Oil watering. A few years ago, a bunch of peppers I was overwintering got a horrible infestation. Did the above and never say another aphid the entire winter. Last but not least - one can order Lady Bugs, no matter what time of the year it is. I read (and then followed) the idea of spraying them with a weak mixture of Coke (the drink, not the drug) and water, which helps keep them from flying. Released them on my plants and watched them grow fat. One thing is certain - you have to take aphid and similar insect infestations serious. i’ll try to get a closer shot the next time i see one. i’ve seen a total of three. they did not hitch a ride on a plant (as far as i know) the only plant that is new to my collection since i brought all plants inside in the fall is in another part of the house to where i’ve found these guys. two in an upstairs bathroom and one in the downstairs bathroom. each bathroom has one plant, both of which have been inside since october!
