I wouldn't think it would be especially risky as a valet isn't in your car for very long.

I am with Annie, but if you are worried , you could have some spray and wipes to use before you get back in your car.

I would hesitate to use the valet parking. I would drop your father off making certain that he was inside then park. Tried visualizing how far I would have to drive with subzero temperatures like many parts of this country currently and decided for me it would be a no go if the temperature was below 40 to have the windows open.

I had the tire guys drive it and I get it washed at a full service carwash so valet service wouldn't bother me.

The only reason to avoid a valet is if you worried about theft. I've had parking stickers stolen by valets and quickly learned to take the sticker with me instead of leaving it in the car.

If the valet is in the car and has the virus, his breath would expel the virus in your car which would stay there if windows rolled up. Let's be honest, most people don't wear properly fitting masks. The valet has been in other cars, touched other steering wheels, touched his mask, etc. No thanks for me.

PS Don't forget handling of car keys.

Do they still do valet parking now? I would think not, especially in the US where numbers are still so high. I imagine though, that if it is still an option, the employee would be wearing a mask and hand sanitizing both before and after getting out of the vehicle. And taking a shower when he/she gets home and launders their clothing right away too. My kids both are tire techs and they have to use a sanitizing spray inside the vehicles they have to drive into the shop before they are allowed inside the vehicle. I think it's called Spray 9. Once it's been sanitized, they can enter the car.

By the time you get back to the car what might have been shed is dead. Same with the car wash. Lets keep our heads and FOLLOW THE SCIENCE.

We used the valet at the country club for a funeral luncheon. it never occurred to me to not use them. You are going to be taking off your mask to eat anyway. Some hospitals and medical buildings offer valet parking, and they are a godsend for many circumstances. I didn’t think about the possibility that they are also driving cars for people who are sick, but hopefully enough people are wearing masks that the transmission is greatly lessened.

After all, the valet is getting into numerous strange cars every day, HE doesn’t want to catch it, either!

I used to go to two hospitals with my husband for various things. One the valets were at the main entrance to the hospital and at the medical building. The second one the valet, only one, was at the emergency room entrance. Currently I would bypass the second one. A lot would also depend on where the shots are being given. Some locations here are at side or basement entry's which do not have any valet parking. You could use the valet parking but then you would need to walk the length of the building and perhaps use the elevator. I may be wrong but I think the OP mentioned that the shot was to be given today so any decision may have already been done.

I still won’t get my car smogged ‘cause I don’t want the guy sitting in there, which he’d have to do. I know my tags are expired, but hopefully the state is still ok with this. I paid the fee, of course.

my car is filthy, very dusty inside so I guess I’d better get to it. It was so easy to let someone else clean it.

It would never occur to me to use valet parking. Even in "normal" times.

I would feel safer taking my mother to an appointment and using valet than I would dropping her at the door and telling her to wait inside for me. But I'm so grateful that DH is willing to go, able to go, and acts as our valet.

I've tried dropping her, asking her to wait 'right here and don't go, I'll be right back when I've parked' - then have had trouble finding her. She gets anxious and wants to be early for everything ;0), she'll leave where I've left her and begin to look for the check in desk, elevator, wing where her doctor might be found. And she moves faster than one might imagine, even with her walker. Then, cannot hear if I were calling her, so has me on the run.

I would mask when getting back in the car, open the windows and turn on the heated seats and fan. Blow anything out that could have been lingering inside, and I keep wipes and alcohol spray in my car too.

I haven't been anywhere in a year that even requires using a valet.

When taking my parents to things I used to have a wheelchair in the car. Park, into the chair, push to venue. No need to leave parent anywhere. Valet parking hardly exists here, only in the very swankiest hotels, so it's not a decision one ever has to make.

I hate valet parking even in the best of times. When I go for MRI, there's a free valet option. - instead I use the parking garage across the street, even though I have to pay. It's in New Haven... more worried about theft than anything.

If you're worried about valet parking, what do you do in restaurants or when you go to the gym? Both are places that masks are removed, haven't seen any issues there.

The last time I was in a restaurant was March 7, 2020. Take out only these days. Our gyms have been mostly closed. Our new Y has been open off and on with limited capacity to those under 65. That excluded our BIL who was a key component in the fund raising to build it, he is 66. ;0)

Not everyone has the luxury of an at home gym. I prefer working out with friends.

If you don't want to go to a restaurant that's your choice but many still enjoy meeting with friends/family and eating out.

The hospital that I have brought my husband to for some procedures has not had valet parking since the start of covid. That's fine with me, I don't use it. But I'm sure some may have relied on it since there is some distance from the parking ramp to getting into the building, a very long interior walkway, not a great distance but I could see it as being a problem for some.

Here's another way of thinking about it, how are the valet workers going to stay in business if you don't use them? Not patronizing businesses just puts more people out of work.

I've never felt it was my personal obligation to keep people employed at particular businesses, particularly not those with minimum wage jobs. If there are three Asian restaurants in one area to choose from, two are very good and the third one stinks. The third one appears to be on the brink of going out of business because it's losing customers. Are you suggesting that people should go to the third one to keep it open?

I hope not. Though I guess you can suggest it but few would do so.
