At what point do you worry about POA?
Comments (2)But rather than being concentrated in one spot, there are a few blades of it every foot or so in some areas. Don't worry about it unless it spreads. I pull out the Certainty or Round Up when the patches get to be half the size of my palm or so. We should note that I wear a size 6 ring with the rest of the hand proportionate, so my palm is a good bit smaller than average... As long as it stays in the few little bits range, your lawn is competing very nicely with it....See MoreAt what point do you say something about someone's drinking?
Comments (24)I agree with the others. Because drinking is so socially acceptable, it's possible she is unaware that her drinking has crept up to the point that it's gotten out of control. It will certainly be a difficult discussion, but if nobody ever says anything, how could a change ever begin to happen...? Seeking's point about keeping the conversation short, direct, and unambiguous is an excellent one. No doubt, any conversation that lasts longer than 60 seconds will come off sound like 'harping'. I'd respectfully disagree with Lowspark about the "I phrasing". Unless you happen to work a miracle and hit your timing perfectly (right when she is beginning to realize she has a serious problem and needs to change), you're going to be blamed anyway for being overprotective and unreasonable. Why plant the idea? It's just an excuse. I like Gibby's "too much alcohol being consumed on a daily basis" approach. It communicates clearly without accusing. Definitely talk to your 12 year old. Otherwise, you're missing a huge opportunity to point out what a drunk person looks like to others. Your DD is at a very impressionable age right now, and if she realizes what's going on before you explain it to her, you'll come off looking like a huge hypocrit -- condoning drunken behavior in others while presumably warning her about the evils of alcohol. She also needs to hear that a tendency towards alcoholism can run in the family, and that she needs to be extra careful... Good luck ---...See MoreA/C stopped working at some point today
Comments (5)Sorry for the pictures in the post, I should have just posted the links. That's going to be rough on mobile or dial up users (if they exist still) So I vacuumed the air return and replaced the filter. Left the A/C switch off and the fan "ON" just to let the fan blow air through the fins assuming it was iced up in the attic as well as outside. I went outside at the compressor and hosed off all the ice that I could see and cleaned the unit outside. I waited until about 11pm when I was ready to go to bed and then turned the unit back on and set it for a few degrees higher than normal. It stayed on all night and appears to be working this morning also. I guess it was just dirty filter and lack of airflow causing it....See MoreAt what point do you decide to donate clothes that are too small?
Comments (4)Yes, I do! Due to a medical issue, my weight fluctuates 50 pounds. I have clothes size 10-16. I keep 3-5 outfits in all those 4 sizes. I have what fits in my closet, 1 "too small" bin, and 1 "too large" bin. I've listened to the advice to donate what doesn't fit and used to do that, I don't anymore. I find it demoralizing as I gain weight to have to go shopping just to have clothes and it's equally frustrating to lose weight, buy something new only to have it not fit a few months later. I've also changed the way I shop. I buy sleeveless tops, sweaters, wrap dresses that work over a variety of sizes and fewer fitted pieces....See MoreCarrie B
