One time offer!! Cuttings for Newbies who post regularly only!
Comments (112)Everyone, you're welcome!! Glad you like the selection! Happy you are all happy with your cuttings. Good luck with all of them this winter. Many had a good start to rooting. Aboout the break-in- Our alarm was not on in our office! Duh!! Mostly the robbery just made everyone paranoid. My husband is still locking all our doors at home- a first for us, living out in the country with six noisy dogs to scare off strangers. Not too much lost but always brings a feeling of violation. This is a first for us in 12 years there and we are not in a good neighborhood, so we have been fortunate. BTW, the alarm is always on now when we leave! We have not caught the bums but that is probably what they are, bums, excuse me, not being PC here, homeless people, in the area. Thanks for all your support and concern. Well, I just dug a bunch of my brugs, with the help of my grandson, Nathan. I'm leaving Adeline to bloom, since I only had two so far, and she had 12 buds on her- getting some color today. I dug up Lucero- he is scalped!! I will post a photo later. Back to work! Brenda...See Moreanyone know of any good knitting books?
Comments (6)I really like the videos at knitting help ath profsusan mentioned. I have the embarassingly titled "I Can't Believe I'm Knitting!" book at home (was the exclamation point really necessary?). Easy to find at Michael's or similar and I find the illustrations fairly easy to follow. But more than that, is there a yarn shop in your community? A lot of the time, it is easier to see some of these things in action and ask a real live person for help. Most dedicated yarn stores are staffed by experienced knitters who are willing to talk a newbie through the basics. Here is a link that might be useful: craftfetish blog...See MoreAnyone Here Sell Online - Question
Comments (28)Yes, Alisande, cause you're expecting to make some decent money on your book. I would pay taxes too. But if you sold 10 books, would you pay declare that? If someone wrote a book and sold only ten copies, I would assume the book was self-published. In that case, the author laid out a sum of money to the vanity press, and it's highly unlikely the sale of ten copies would have covered the cost of printing, much less made a profit. Isn't profit what it's all about? If we sell a share of stock for less than we paid for it, that represents a capital loss. Too bad we can't do this with garage sale items. :-) Jasdip, I'm not disagreeing with you. In fact, I think you summed it up well in your first post when you mentioned people whose sales represent "a sole or large part of their income."...See MoreBook discussion guides for children
Comments (9)Thanks for the suggestions, but both gave me a chuckle! Cindy, I work at the local public library, and am looking for discussion guides for my daughter's fifth grade teacher. ccrdmrbks, I am the JGB coordinator at my children's school; we use the parent-volunteer program for the third thru fifth grades and are finding by the time the children reach fifth grade, they are "burned out" on JGB. The fifth grade teacher and I are putting our heads together to find some alternative and her idea was to assign classic children's novels which they may not pick up on their own and then discuss them. My job would be to recruit parents to lead the discussions and I've found that having a guide ready to go (those wonderful JGB leader guides) takes away the intimidation factor some parents feel. Cindy, I did try your idea of googling a book title along w/ "discussion" and found some promising leads so I'll probably pursue that course once we choose the books....See MoreFunkyart
