How long does brewed Compost Tea last?
Comments (4)Aerobic tea brews last up to 24 hours, in order to maximize the number of beneficial aerobic bacteria and fungi living in the liquid. After 24-48 hours, unless constant aeration is re-applied, most of the good aerobic microbes have lost their maximum powers, and have either died off or gone dormant. Non-aerobic tea brews don't matter much about long brewing times, because most of the aerobic microbes in the tea are either dead or asleep in the tea. Non-aerobic teas are brewed mostly for their nutrients, not good aerobic microbial activity. The good aerobic microbes that exist in your topsoil, grow from the foods in a diluted non-aerobic tea application, only after it is applied to the plant's foliage or topsoil, in a foliar or soil application, and only after it is exposed to the air for awhile. Not so in a true aerobic tea brew. The good aerobic microbes are already living in the tea brew, then they keep living a little more, and breed again after they are applied to the soil or to plant foliage, at application time. Aerobic tea brews tend to greatly increase the good aerobic microbial poipulations on plants and soils, much faster than non-aerobic tea brews, used as biostimulants. Because non-aerobic tea brews can contain the wrong forms of microbes and nutrients, it is best to use they sparingly, very diluted, and only as a soil drench. Aerobic tea brews can be used as frequently as irrigation schedules in your garden plants, and can be diluted and used safely as both a foliar/soil drench. Both aerobic and non-aerobic tea brews can have their place in a well managed sustainable gardening system. Just keep in mind what each tea brewing type each does, and how in fits in your own personal gardening style. Hope that helps. Comments (9)I too have been searching for years for a live Piper Methysticum. In 1996/97, Gnostic Garden were selling them. Firstly, there is no law against the live plant. The kava ban was purely for internal consumption - products design to be ingested, such as dried root, kava extracts etc. Essentially, kava extracts could be sold for cosmetic purposes and stated that they are not for internal consumption. Live plants would have absolutely no restriction. However, there is a law in Hawaii that prohibits any live kava plant being exported. Fiji seem to be pretty protective of their living heritage too. I have made enquiries to several US based nurseries for them the get a phytosanitary certifcate and send a live plant. Unfortunately there was no uptake for this. Today, I have found this place: http://www.ktbotanicals.com/piper-methysticum-kava-kava-live-plant-p-12697.html They say they'll send out plants anywhere, but if it gets stopped at customs, then that's that! I too have thought of a holiday in Fiji and smuggling some live plants back, but that's an expensive and risky pursuit. I'm happy to pay money for the phytosanitary certificate to get one of these ultra-rare Europe-based plants... They do have some live plants in Kew Garden you could always try and lift. And what's all the fuss about zones? Surely this would be a house plant and tended to in a very specific way? Afterall, after going through all the trouble getting one, you wouldn't want it to die?! Just make sure the thing's well insulated before it makes its journey in the summer months - it'll probably be put in the hold of an aircraft which can get pretty cool... Here is a link that might be useful: Piper methysticum...See MoreLadies, how long does it take you to get your period each month?
Comments (3)It's normal. The delay is because your body is getting the hormone in the pill out of your system. It takes me sometimes 3 or 4 days. Once I didnt get a period for several months but knew i wasnt pregnant (no signs, just a feeling I wasnt). My pill's hormone level was too high for me. If you dont get a few periods and rule out pregnany, that may be it. Sometimes when on the pill you can skip a period, or just spot a little....See MoreHow long did it take to sell your last home?
Comments (33)We are in a rural area, one large employer in the county. Our neighborhood is desirable, and this has been a pretty Spring. Only 10 days from listing to ratified contract, full price, this week, yay! Part was luck: our local market had been slow since the downturn, so we gained an advantage from pent-up demand. And just recently, four homes in the neighborhood sold, providing a solid basis for pricing our home fairly. Part was standard preparation: we decluttered, cleaned, bought fresh kitchen towels and pretty shower curtains, and did some very minor repairs. Didn't go overboard with updates, other than a new medicine cabinet & light for the master bath, so some flooring and fixtures are obviously 90's vintage. I don't know if our floorplan helped or hurt -- our rooms are generously sized and flow well, but not "open concept" and no first-floor master suite. We had five showings. Two said no right away, two were non-committal. But the right buyer came along, they are truly looking forward to living here. Fingers crossed for a smooth closing....See More- 5 years ago
