“The most exciting two minutes in sports.” Start of the 1978 Kentucky Derby. I was in the infield that day and had spent an hour working my way through the crowd to get a good vantage point to take this picture. Left to right, Sensitive Prince, Alydar and Believe It. The race was won by Affirmed, who went on to win the Triple Crown. Alydar was second and Believe It third. I’d bet on Sensitive Prince. He was 6th. My excitement was short lived. Still have that losing ticket.

DH was excited to have one down. Me on the other hand was disappointed as I’m not yet 65.

Sorrow. The last picture of my sister and me. June 3, 2019.

On April 13, 2019, she was diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic cancer. They said 3-6 months. She didn't even make 2 months. Died on my dad's birthday, June 9, 2019.

I am the oldest sibling in my family, always figured I'd be the first to go. Never thought it would be Sandy, who was number 4 of 6. I remember standing on my tiptoes looking at her in the buggy the day she and Mom came home from the hospital.

Luckily, I have many pictures and great memories. This winter of staying home all the time, I have had too much time to grieve.

Joan, I’m so sorry; life can surprise us. Keep the good memories close at heart.

She has been out of high school for almost 3 years but it was exciting to watch her play, and see her teams win so many games.

Rare Quetzal in Costa Rica. This is the last time I remember being excited. I did not expect to be able to see one of these, but we hired a guide who was a friend of someone who worked at the hotel where we were staying, even though he was not an "official" guide. I think this is a mango tree, but I'm not sure.

Joan, My deepest sympathy for your loss. Life can certainly be strange. My MIL was the oldest child, but had to endure seeing 5 of her 6 siblings die.

This was exciting. A nearby house exploded when there was a gas leak, we think. The guy who lived there was kind of shady. The noise was incredible. I live west of Philadelphia and people in New Jersey heard it. It rattled windows for miles. I saved this picture from a news report.
