Anyone have quartzite installed that doesn’t have edge staining?

I’m guessing only those who have problems with edge staining/bleeding on their quartzite post about it which is why it seems so prevalent. So if you have a true quartzite (not mislabeled marble etc.) and don’t have the edge problems, can you give share your experience (type of stone, how long you’ve had it, how it was sealed, etc). Or maybe I’m wrong and it is an issue for everyone?!?

We do not have edge staining. The only place we notice any change in color is along the seam where our faucet is. And mostly when my MIL decides to wash dishes at the holidays. LOL. Our dish towels are nearby and I just wipe up any excess water. If water does get through the seam and discolors the stone, it dries within a day and it’s back to normal. No issues like what is reported here.

Our quartzite was labeled as Mykonos... looks to be similar to a Macaubus. We’ve had it almost a year and a half. We seal it twice a year. Takes about an hour to do (more so with dry time between sealant applications), but I can easily multitask and do other things, honestly it is not a big deal at all.

I've had Taj Mahal installed in my master bathroom for about a year and have had zero issues! Absolutely love it!! It's a large double vanity with 2 sinks.

I don't know how it was sealed as we purchased it from a local reputable shop.

Kaysd, your counters are gorgeous. Lcskaisgir, what I meant by dull is that they seemed darker than yours or kaysd's slabs. I noticed that in the same cut as kaysd's they appeared lighter, but I wanted the cross cut which is more of a swirl rather than straight lines. The color of yours is what I am looking for and haven't found them. I went back to the same place a second time and they seemed to have more light coming in and they looked a bit lighter. I have bad lighting and am worried they will appear flat (no life to them). I have the same problem when I pick glass tile, they are all sparkly in the store and no life when I bring them home. I have to pick something soon so I'm in a panic state because I thought I could just do quartz if I can't find quartzite but even with that I haven't found anything that I love.

Buehl, when someone posted a link to "encaustic tile" search results for images.google.com I saw a tile that made me think of your kitchen Its pattern = 2 shades close of your cabinet stain with a black accent I didn't think you'd go for it because it was really busy as all those are, but I'd love to see it in your kitchen :-). To jgopp / the OP: My opinion = - Kitchens look half naked without a backsplash - With one, even a simple one, they look so much more interesting - I really dislike 4" high backsplashes. One exception I saw on Houzz - A kitchen with no upper cabinets, a very quiet granite or maybe quartz, simple cabinets, and one layer of one of a beautiful encaustic tiles along the granite with a pattern that was of course loud but that flowed with everything else in the room.

P, I think it must be a matter of where you live, because I had no problem getting a sample of Fantasy Brown quartzite, or any other quartzite to bring home to test. The texture that you mention on leathered is not so much that anything can get caught in it. I can put a piece of paper on the counter and write on it, and there is no effect on the writing. I went with the leathered finish as it is what the experts recommended for that stone, and with no issues in 2 years, they were right. I didn't want a shiny finish on my counter top.

Does anyone have Mont Blanc quartzite? If so, would you post pics?

@Thao Le I like the subtle sheen of your honed Mont Blanc quartzite countertops. Please share whether you have had problems with staining? If not, kindly share what type of sealer you used. I plan to use Mont Blanc for my upcoming renovation but given the porosity, I want to be sure my contractor uses a sealer that is proven to properly 'impregnate' the stone to prevent staining.

Taj Mahal in the kitchen and no issues, but that seems to be normal for TM. It has been in close to 3 years.

I have Fusion in the kitchen, a powder room, and an outdoor bar with no issues. However, Fusion is not one of the very light colors and also is not very porous, which probably factor in to why it has held up well so far. It was sealed when installed; sorry but I don’t know the name of the product. It’s been in about 18 months.

Agreed! I would love to hear if others who have light quartzite that doesn’t have stained edges. We are planning on installing Infinity white (Florida Wave) quartzite soon. Thanks!

Taj Mahal in our kitchen with no issues. Did all the testing and relied on lots of testimonials from other TM owners. I can't say enough how much I love it.

I wish I could say I have no staining!! Edges of quartzite countertop and backsplash were not sealed before install.

We installed Quatzite, named Allure, and we have not had any staining at all, on edges or anywhere. We have had it 6+ months. It still looks great!
