Windows Design Dilemma

Window treatment for large windows

I have 3 windows across the front of my house. The two on either side of front doors are 6’ square with 9 panes each, one is the dining room window, the other is the master closet. The other is 3’x6’ with 6 panes. I love the look of plantation shutters, but hate that the center is right in the middle of a pane. Currently a wood blind is on closet window and the other two are bare. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Just uploaded. Closet window is the same as large dining window.

Thanks for the advice. I have ordered some swatches from Pottery Barn of their Peyton linen look drape. Hopefully one of the colors will work. I also looked at Country Curtains but didn't see anything that had the linen look that i am seeking. Does anyone know of a good source for drapery panels with that are linen )or look like it?)

You need local on site retail or design help. Call an HD dealer. There are many options far superior to metal blinds. They will also install.

IMO the cabinet between the windows is a no go .I do not love the dark wood with the cabinet color but I think you either leave that as is or do all the trim . As for window covering in the kitchen since that window is hard to access I would do a motorized blind if heat and UV rays are an issue or a roman shade if that and privacy are an issue. I would be using alder for the shelving to keep the number of different woods to a min.

Thanks for photos. Do you like the wood blinds in the closet? Wood blinds can be quite heavy in large sizes, so you may find raising one every day awkward. You could look at other types of lighter weight blinds such as 2" wide Venetian blind styles with tapes.

apple_pie_order, not really. I never raise them, but do open them to get some light. Yes, they are heavy, but not balsa wood, plastic, so that probably makes matters worse. If I do go with wood blinds, I would change that out for whatever goes on the other two windows. I had just put in pjs Tati on shutters at our old house before we moved and loved them. I just don’t think they’d work on the big windows, with the ‘seam’ where they meet would be the middle of a pane. Maybe wood blinds with some nice fabric panels on the side?
