IMO you have enough dark things what do you need from window coverings if just looks why not a nice faux roman shade that is never going to be down and it can add a bit of color to the space and just leave the door without anything.

They have mix of light sandy paint and bit of white trim. Helping it, imo, is the also small amount of black trim on curtain - does it look 'purposeful'? top down/bottom up blinds for both windows would be nice, I use Blinds.com they have a great selection of colors and styles. In the living room, I would use both blinds and grommet drape panels. They add texture, beauty, and softness to any room... and easy to open, close.
