Do subway tiled walls go with travertine floors?
Comments (11)The glossy white field tile in our guest bathroom ties in with the glossy white tub, toilet, and sink. The listello border tile in the guest bathroom (emperador dark marble/White Thassos/Noce travertine) picks up the colors of the vanity--espresso stained walnut, the toilet, shower pan, and sink--white, and the lt walnut or noche travertine floor tile. The glossy field tile in our hall bathroom provides a nice contrast to the split-face travertine mosaic border tile and honed travertine floor tile. abd1--thanks. At a local Home Show this past weekend, the tile store we'd used had a nice display utilizing some new tile they'd gotten in--glossy 4x16" (!!!--cool shape/dimensions) white tile with stone strips/mosaic accent tile....See Morekitchen plans- do these go together
Comments (7)I'd leave the paint until the last decision, but I'm thinking something like a caramel yellow, or a brick red. Or both. Kitchens don't have much actual wall space, and using a punchy paint can really make them come alive. And you don't have to commit to a whole wall of it! And while I LOVE the backsplash, I recognize that not everyone would, so unless you are planning to stay in this home 10+ years, I'd do the backsplash in a regular type of tile, and then mount the Medusa onto cement board surrounded by some pretty liner as the "frame" and then hang it behind the range. If you ever need to "de-personalize" then you take her down and patch replace the tiles with the hanger in them and you've got the instant boring resale look. Or if mom is coming over, you take her down and replace her with some sort of iron scrollwork hung there instead. You get the best of both worlds....See MoreDoes this bathroom tile go together?
Comments (10)I am still figuring out design (diagonal, etc.) but it seems so overwhelming. How would that look if the floor tile was stacked (I think that's what its called - off set 6 inches for a 12 x 12 tile) I don't want to do something I will hate down the line. The smaller tiles are 6 by 6. We took out a insert shower and we plan to reuse the shower pan and tile the walls so no slip factor. We ripped out moldy regular drywall and are replacing with green board which will be covered with hardibacker board for the tile. Any suggestions for grout color? Total newbie to tile but I know I don't want white. It seems too high maintenance for my family....See MoreDo these colors go together ?
Comments (16)One more question please....Should the Support piece of wood (not sure what it's called, maybe it's just decorative) just below the rain gutter in this photo be painted the same color as the body of the house OR should it be painted white ? When getting painting estimates, I've been told both ways. Thanks!...See MoreTara Dunnerstein
