It looks good to me, too. Both are warm tones...I think it will be nice. You could do something fun with those square tiles like setting them on the diagonal or make an accent area with them laid differently (of course then you would need some different tiles to border it.)

Are those smaller tiles for the shower floor? How big are they, and are they slippery? I think they look good together, but am concerned about the slip factor. Also how is the shower to be constructed?

I am still figuring out design (diagonal, etc.) but it seems so overwhelming. How would that look if the floor tile was stacked (I think that's what its called - off set 6 inches for a 12 x 12 tile) I don't want to do something I will hate down the line.

The smaller tiles are 6 by 6. We took out a insert shower and we plan to reuse the shower pan and tile the walls so no slip factor. We ripped out moldy regular drywall and are replacing with green board which will be covered with hardibacker board for the tile.

Any suggestions for grout color? Total newbie to tile but I know I don't want white. It seems too high maintenance for my family.

Totally agree on doing something other than the typical side by side with the floor tiles. This is a 1/2 bath that I did in my cellar last year. I bought ceramic tile from Home Depot and I think it looks like 'so much more' when I did it on the diagonal, and cut some to do the border with narrower pieces. Since your floor tile is vinyl, it'll be very easy for you do do something special, as cutting it won't be difficult.

I don't think the tiles complement each other. The smaller tiles are beige or ivory and the larger tiles have a decided pinkish cast to them. I would change one or the other so the pair is in the same color family.

I agree with kswl. There is a definite shade difference going on. This could be more evident when you set in the larger spaces. I would return the floor tile and take the smaller to the store with you to match up closer. I like the 6x6, especially the price. You can still get a darker floor tile, just move closer to the beige color base.

Also look at grout while you are at the store. A close match to the tile is available, more options than before.

I can see a slight cast of pinkish in the small tile so it's fine, you're so lucky your Dad can do the tile. It will look great. Go for the diagonal that 3dogs showed.

Okay, so the smaller tiles will not be on the shower floor. You have some sort of solid pan, right? How will the shower walls be waterproofed?
