help! shower ideas.

We have a large bathroom (13’x10’) and will be remodeling. We’d like to make our shower bigger and maximize space, but keep it as on budget as possible.
I’d love any thoughts about shower layout.
We have 2 exterior walls on the shower(Red lines) and live in MN so plumbing is tricky.
I have a few options. A seems most logical to me but would move plumbing/drain. B would move plumbing but keep the shower in roughly the same spot. C would keep things mostly the same, but might create a strange wall in the middle of the room.
Any suggestions?

IMO a tub along the right wall should be no issue and much better than a corner tub which are always a PITA to clean around. A nice deep soaker tub and a shower will fit quite easily on the right wall with even the linen storage.

This kind of layout would work for sure and in your space the linen storage could be glass shelves in between th e tub and the shower to keep this looking nice and open your vaity shoudld be able to handle all the other storage .So Iwould do only nice shampoo and lotion bottles and towels on the glass shelves .

An improperly built shower is only cured by ripping it ALL out and starting over. The cost difference is usually insignificant as the labor to bandaid something to an existing installation is higher than doing it all right from the beginning. Yes, it's a bit more in material costs, but material costs pale in comparison to the labor costs. Especially if you hire a knowledgeable tile technician in the first place. Only a hack would do the halfassedjob that you're wanting to do. Anyone worth their salt will flat out tell you what Cabot&Rowe did above.

Our hall bath is set up like yours without a wall between the tub and toilet I did not plan this it was how it was put in in the twenties. You will need a two piece curve bar with a ceiling mount bar. I find two shower curtains with an opening in the middle of the front of the tub the best for keeping water from splashing out with my kids, oldest is 9. I have a cheap Costco railhead/ hand held combo which when aimed properly is never an issue. Pardon my bath it is nearly a hundred years old and shows it age. :( toilet at end of tub with curtain only Shower head combo which has worked well in ours Shower curtain set up that after much trial and error works with the kids unsupervised. Without the curtain my toilet would be wet so you will need something there I believe, either glass panel with glass doors or two curtains and wait for doors. i actually prefer curtains to glass for bathing small children and I also prefer curtain to glass for kids and guest who most likely will skip the squeegee process.

Okay, there is just a whole lot wrong there, and it is not just the shower pan, thus some of the harsh comments. The tiles do not overlap the pan, providing no mechanism to channel water from the walls into the pan. Water will get through the grout on the walls. It should then travel down a waterproof membrane, into the pan and down the drain. Your installation can't do that. The water will go down the waterproofing (assuming it exists), outside your shower pan and into lower walls and/or your floor. Even if your tile DOES overlap the shower pan, water can still wick out side the pan area, then down the wall, into the floor, because your pan isn't big enough. Simply purchasing a new enclosure to sit on top of the pan will not solve this problem Your existing glass panel doesn't even reach the end of the shower pan, providing an easy avenue for water to reach outside the shower "enclosure. Even if you increase the size of your shower pan to cover the entire area, if the waterproofing wasn't done correctly, you will still have water in your walls. Unless your entire bathroom floor is constructed like a wet area, with waterproofing and a drain mechanism, then this is destined to be a problem no mater what you do with the enclosure. Given all of that, we are back to, "This is beyond stupid." Reality is, you will replace this now for a large fee, OR you will replace this and repair the water damage for a really large fee. Pay now or pay more later - it's as simple as that.

In open concept things don't have to match they just need to coordinate. Choose colors you want in the space and use them in varying degrees in both parts of the room. The rug you have under the table is too big for that space. I would move it into the living room part of the room but orient it the opposite direction. Center it in that space with the window and use it as a guide for furniture placement. You should have at least a foot of hardwoods showing on all sides. Art should be placed with centers at about 60". a grouping should be placed as if it were one piece. Color should be repeated around the room to keep your eyes moving in the space. Center the dining table under the light and lower the light closer to the table. If you do bring in another rug it should also be centered under the light along with the table.Try the table turned the other way. The room will feel less cramped if you can comfortably walk all the way around the table grouping. When I move into a new place I try different furniture placement out for a few weeks then change things up and live with another position for awhile until I find what works in the room best for my lifestyle. Looks like you have a great start. I also love saving money buying at thrift stores and online. Gotta love a deal.

Fair about tub, the challenge is the 2 big windowsill it seem off center if we straighten. But I’ll reconsider rub placement.

You may be able to center the tub under the right side window just fine. If you want to center it under the lower window, as well, then it will probably fit well, not too close to the toilet. That would give you the ability to put some plants under the right side window and it would be much easier to clean there, with it being away from the wall. Measure and see.

You could possibly have a towel warming rack on the wall next to the lower window, too.

Centering a bathtub under a window would have zero importance to me. However, having a view *out* the window while bathing - even if that view isn't straight on - would be very important.

if you move the door over you have room for a huge linen closet next to vanity and then plenty of room for a larger shower, and freestanding tub. A ½ wall (with a glass corner) or all glass shower will give you light and open up the space.

I would love that plan but the door is at the end of the house! The red line is not exact but there isn’t room to move the door because in the bedroom the house ends.
We did consider going into the hallway closet which is behind where you drew the linen, so maybe we’ll consider going back to that.

No, door stays in the same place because that’s the bedroom. The linen would actually go behind the wall into the deep hallway linen closet. But it would mean we’d lose storage there.
