Prints left on luxury vinyl plank floors!!!!
Comments (488)We had Johnson Hardwood"s Luxury Plank Vinyl flooring, Public House- whiskey sour installed by the builder after we looked at the product at a flooring center recommended by Johnson. We have lived in the house for exactly 2 years, and for the first year the flooring cleaned up nicely. In the beginning, I had contacted the "technical rep" for Johnson, and he recommended Rejuvenate LVF cleaner as it is low Ph. That is the only product I have used on the floor since we moved in. We loved the floor so much that we paid $7000 to have it installed in our lanai last year. In the past several months, the floor in the main house is blotchy or spotty throughout, and it looks like certain areas have a film. We clean up water and spots immediately, but the spots continue to show when the floor is wet or dry. So far the lanai doesn't have the same problem, but it's only a year old now. I did report these issues to the technical rep at Johnson, and he wants we to contact the maker of Rejuvenate as that product is likely the cause of the spotting all over the floor. He also wants me to find out who the contractor bought the flooring from when the house was built, and I am to provide the name and contact info for the flooring contractor who installed the floor in the lanai last year. I have tried to take photos with my iphone, but only a few of the spots will show up. I clean this floor at least twice weekly with the Rejuvenate and I vacuum it daily as everything shows up on the dark floor. I know I am going to get the run around from the Johnson rep. I am so upset that we paid top dollar for what we thought was a quality flooring only to have it look like cheap vinyl flooring. I wish we had never heard of Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring....See MoreRugs that do not stain luxury vinyl flooring
Comments (10)The ONLY reason to use a rubber-backed padding or rug is for waterproofing, such as outdoor mats or garage/shed areas that have concrete floors. Indoor rugs of any fiber will not hurt your LVP. We've used everything from cheap bathroom runners to handmade wool or silk rugs and never had any issues. I'm a rug fanatic; we have more rugs than we have rooms, LOL. I've been collecting and walking on our rugs for almost 50 yrs, in three different homes with a variety of flooring materials, including hardwood. Use of a pad is optional, but: - if a good quality rug, a pad helps it last longer and gives a "cushier" feel - helps keep very light thin rugs, such as cotton druggets, from sliding underfoot. Use any good quality latex rug padding that specifically says it is safe for hardwood and vinyl flooring. Any flooring store should carry them, as do stores like Target and JC Penney. BTW, pay attention to the care label before buying a rug. If it says spot clean, it means just that. The one rug material I don't approve of is jute, because it can't be cleaned. There are jute blends that are better, and best are the polypropylene rugs that simulate jute but can be hosed down to clean (outside, of course, LOL!). I'm not a fan of the look or texture, but it's a popular look with many decorators. HTH!...See MoreFlooring Help - TAS Flooring Luxury Vinyl Click
Comments (1)I just saw it in a showroom. I love the Ardmore color but I can’t find much information about the product. I think I still want to go with an SPC product but the Tas Ardmore is tempting....See MoreWood floor or Luxury vinyl for kitchen/first floor of new build home?
Comments (18)I've been part of a Residential Home's purchase of 8mm cork glue down cork tiles in their common area. The tiles were site finished with 2 coats of Loba 2K Supra AT. The cork is thick with natural energy absorbing abilities. The Loba 2K Supra AT is a HIGH GRIP product - even when damp. An elderly resident fell from a standing position. They landed heavily on their hip. They were taken to EMERG for X-Rays. There was no sign of a break. The resident was Dx with a 'deep bone bruise' and sent home to rest. The Home's director stated that previous falls of that nature usually have resulted in broken bones. This was the first time the home had seen a serious fall that did not result in broken bones. The cork was the difference maker. Cork is finicky but can be made super tough without compromising on aesthetics. It can be used INSTEAD OF carpet. In fact it is a 'carpet replacement' product. When done properly it can last 130+ years (Library of Congress received their cork floor in 1890's....it is STILL THERE...in it's original state)....See Morej_holbert
