Les917, I did see those, thanks! The first one I liked but those star things felt too tropical to me or like star fish or something...couldn't get past it for some reason! Plus it - and the set with gold trim below it - felt to be a bit too much of a match. What I like about the set I showed is that there are a few other colors in there - and I'm always drawn toward the blues. My bedroom is periwinkle and has been for ages but I'm hoping to paint the room as soon as I get a sense for what would look best with the gold drapes. Obviously whites and creams are easy. I'm inclined to do something like Restoration Hardware's "silver sage" as overdone as it might be. I was also thinking the right, flat, dark-ish grey could be really nice with the gold but I think that's a more modern look and would require a strong sense of style to pull it off - not sure I could do that. You have made a great start with your room! I agree with nosoccermom. Down inserts will work on your leather and velvet covers will be great. Although I don't use my velvet, heavier throws, etc. this time of year. Great for cooler weather and will really cozy up. I have a pillow made from a kilim pillow on a leather loveseat in our office, along with another pillow in a grainsack type fabric. I only use down or down alternative inserts and the pillows are fine on our loveseat. Granted it's in our office and is not used like a den/living room will be. A throw is another great idea for some color. I would pull colors from the rug for both pillows and throw. You also want to add some texture and even print to the room (print on a couple of the pillows). I would add plants and you could use basket type containers for added texture. Lower the art above the sofa and add another one. I'm wondering if you could pull those two down and add 2 more above - not sure if that would be too much - you could do mock-ups with paper and what arrangements works best. A tray on your coffee table with a colorful candle, etc. would be nice too. You've got the basics - just need to add a few finishing touches. I'm not big on homegoods, etc. for decor, but that's me. If you have some antique stores, thrift stores, etc. browse for some interesting decor items, artwork, etc. Homegoods, and those types will be good for the pillows and throw. Keep up the good work - you're almost there!

on a king bed i like the look of a 'log' in front but honestly they are nasty things to have to move every day; they can weigh a ton and its hard to find a place to dump them every night that you won't trip over in the dark. like a cabel toss, but without the kilt. mine lasted one week before i gave it the heave ho. my husband would have tossed it the first day but he was trying not to hurt my feelings. we stick with one decorative sham (needed to read in bed) and then the pillows we sleep with. happens my husband and i both prefer two thin ones to one thick one so it all balances nicely.

I'd keep the three light ones in back, then the leather, and then one gray or blue booster sized n in front. That's all you need. If you're trying to freshen up the space, I would also paint the walls a white with a hint of blue. The wall color now clashes with the carpet, and a lighter color would expand the space.
