Paint Bathrooms Design Dilemma

Bathroom paint color to match old beige tiles

I am looking for a new paint (likely different ceiling / walls) to better match / compliment the tile but can’t figure even the color family to go with.

What would be a good color to go with those beige / tan tiles? It has some pink, tan, and brown tones. Should I replace grout with a different color (it has to be refreshed anyway)? For paint I tried samples of sw simple white, Sw greyish and sw truffle white (we have those from painting other rooms) but neither worked. The stone piece is Crema Vosscione for after-tile shelf installation. I suspect the tile is original from 70s and the previous owner painted the room blue.

It’s a hall bathroom and I originally intended to fully redo it so we did not paint with the rest of the house.

So far, changed the bulbs for brighter ones (no ceiling light) & updated the shades (not the fixture itself)

I will likely get a new vanity (not in the best shape), mirror, curtain, and the fixture sometime in the future and will get rid of the cabinet but open to suggestions.

If a bath mat won't cover up the flower tile, try matching one of the colors in it for the walls.

why not wait until you choose your new vanity and top?

any plans on redoing this tile ?

what if you took the tile off the wall around the vanity (and that white molding,,,which I don't even know why that is there) and put in the new vanity with just the countertop backsplash. maybe a new mirror and light ? (for 500 bucks, you could do all of that)

the tile in the shower is ok, maybe even the floor, but i'd remove it from the wall, get a new vanity, and go from there. if the wall is damaged, you can redo it, or, cover up that area w/beadboard wainscot.

Thanks chefmom! I have to check out a swatch of Barely Beige in person but I think it might be a little lighter than what we want. I'm still loving Shaker Beige, but not sure it's the "right" beige for the colors in our bathroom. The same for Everlasting. I think the others I mentioned are probably too dark for a small space with little natural light. Please keep the opinions/suggestions coming! Thanks!

I'm not an expert but when choosing paint colors, I prefer contrast. I would get a few samples and paint some spots on the wall to see what works the best with your tile. If the tile leans more towards white I think a soft sage color would be pretty with the elements you've described, but if your tile leans towards a brown, it's hard to say. If you can post pictures, it would really help.

Simply White has a yellow tone. The tile has an orange tone. If you stick with colors with tones of yellow to orange, no matter how light or gray they are, they will work. 903 Pirates Cove Peach is a near match to the tile. I split the difference in tones between the tile and Simply White, then increased the saturation to get both 176 Goldtone and AF-305 Ylang Ylang from Benjamin Moore. Below is a photo showing all these colors on your wall. I cannot say that my color rendition is exact, nor can I say that your monitor will produce these colors the same way mine does. However, I found the color names for those I produced via an online program called Easy RGB.

I kinda like the wood doors in our house. It looks darker in that photo than it really is. And they go with the mid-century modern-ness of the exterior doors that I love. Sure they're super inefficient and not safe at all, but I still love them.

The flower will be open but I feel those colors are very intense... I am more into neutrals

@Beth H. yes the trim is ugh... and that white does not help. The main blcoker for any major work is doing anything messy while we are stuck working from home with baby & toddler. So painting is a quick fix.

When I chatted about something like that with the local well-regarded handyman he was pretty open that noone can guarantee they won't damage bath surround tile if removing half-wall. Maybe if we just remove tile around the vanity / next to the door it will work. Def would require fixing the wall. I'll need to get some quotes as def not DYI (painting / installing vanity we can do ourselves)
