I was mainly a homebody before, but this has confirmed I really am happiest at home. I do miss seeing my friends. I do not miss working in the office at all.

Oh yes, we are creatures of habit and staying home is an easy habit to get into, especially in the winter when we'd tend to 'hibernate' more anyway.

Staying at home is easier if you have a yard to go with it, I'd go nutz in an Apt. But we do miss our little vacations to get away.

I'd be fine working from home for the rest of my career. I still visit with my small bubble of good friends the same amount as I did pre-covid. We've spent more time at the lake cabin in the last year but only once since Thanksgiving. We should start going down to the cabin again in a month or so when the weather starts to warm up. The fish are waiting!

Yes, I live in a small town rural area. Before Covid about twice a week I would go to the "big" town about 25 miles away to go grocery shopping and where ever I wanted or needed to go. Of course all that has stopped. I miss getting out but I'm OK with being at home too. The only thing that kind of bothers me I'm afraid I'm losing the ability to drive and walk freely like I used to. I'm not getting any younger sitting here.

I don't mind staying home although I miss seeing friends and relatives. I have a good sized house in the country and a big yard and garden. But now that winter is here I am not very active at all. I don't think that's good for me. I hate going outside in the cold.

No way. I am retired and a widow. I have always had plenty of hobbies and could stay at home with ease; however, I miss meeting with friends to eat, participate in garden club activities, go to the movies and plant-buying trips and volunteer with our local hospice organization. Winter only makes it worse--reading and talking on the phone is all that gets me through.

I always loved staying home and I hate so shopping of any kind so I am good. I do miss getting together with friends. Working from home is isolating, I miss the banter and face to face collaborations but I don't need it every day. Once a week or every two weeks would be perfect.

I always liked staying at home; hubby and I loved our own company. We both enjoyed grocery shopping and seldom ate out.

But it's not the same being alone. I miss having someone to play scrabble with, play cards and to talk with. I do take walks with a couple of close friends; either individually or sometimes as a threesome. The other day we walked in a wide triangle, one on the sidewalk, 2 on the street.

But on the whole I'm not a real "peopley" person even though lots of people tell me how friendly and easy-going I am.

I have always liked staying home. I have so much to do here, that there is always something that needs doing. It has nothing to do with the virus. If I need to go to town for something, I go. My problem is more that I hate to leave Jody and it makes me nervous until I can get back and check on him.

I have always been a homebody. I like my home and my five pets are here, I have a 1/2 acre when the weather is good and my kids live a few miles away. I don't NEED to mindlessly shop and buy things since the house is bulging with stuff that needs to go. I miss eating in restaurants and not having birthday dinner parties. We have three family birthdays in the next three weeks and won't celebrate as we have always done and also the Super Bowl party and mothers day will be a no go this year.

I miss going out, so no. I miss exploring new places. I'm super introverted but curious about the world so when in Germany I learned to overcome my need to have someone go to sit in a restaurant with me or go exploring. Would have been super boring to sit in my house when there was so much to see and do. When I first got there I had a friend I worked with who wanted to cram as much of Europe in as she could because she had about a year left, so we did a lot, every weekend. When she left I didn't know a lot of people and the ones I did know were married and couldn't/wouldn't hang out. I went on a lot of trips alone, went volksmarching to see the country by myself. Another coworker took her place and so we spent a lot of time traveling but then her husband got stationed there also, so we did less together. By then I was okay with doing things alone.

I also grew up moving every few years and then did the same as an adult, except for the last 21 years. I have been in this town the longest I've been anywhere. About 7 or 8 years ago I was wanting to go somewhere new. Badly. I started looking at places in Hawaii and they had an opening. I was so excited, printed out the entire job in USA JOBs, took it home to read and found out in tiny print you already had to be living in Hawaii to get the job.

Once again I find myself wanting to pack up and move somewhere new.

My answer to the thread's heading is NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT!. It's the exact opposite for me.

We're not homebodies at all. We're both outgoing and very social. We like to go out to public events and venues, most anything and everything, spend time with friends and family, and most importantly, do a lot of traveling.

Up until this experience I didn't exactly dislike being home but it was the default, it was what you did when something better wasn't on the schedule. Looking for things to do or making up projects to pass the time isn't how I roll. I've done 5 years worth of staying at home since this disaster started and we're both ready to reclaim our past practices and perhaps even overcompensate when it's safe to do so. I'm not impatient, I'll wait for the right time, but I'm frustrated and angry that the simple steps that could have made the situation shorter and less damaging weren't taken because of one person's narcissism and ego.

I used to feel guilty if I wasn't getting-something-done. Last year..... I got over it. ☺ But....now.....maybe I'd like to try something new...to do as a job. We're years away from getting social security & medicare. I checked out a few books from the library, exploring a possibility.

No, I'm ready for the daily walks to do something versus walking just to walk. I'm ready for day trips to nearby places. I'm ready to plan longer vacations to see other parts of the world.

In the meantime, I'm also ready for warmer weather. Outside gardening makes staying home so much more enjoyable.

We haven’t been isolating. I go out to the grocery store, post office, long walks etc.

The only thing I miss is going to the gym, although they are open, lunches and dinners out with friends, book club IRL meetings, movies, travel.

No. I am a homebody, but this does not make me want to stay home. I still do like to occasionally go to the theater, lunch, craft fairs, with friends or alone, and look forward to doing that without any folderol of finding out hours, capacities, will my friends and I get there together in the same car, etc. I do go to the store, run my errands, so I’m not lacking in that arena, and sadly it seems to be my social life lol!

I'm an introvert so being home suits me fine, but this is driving me crazy because other people are home all of the time too. I no longer have any private time. If I go into anther room, they follow me. If I go outside, they follow me. The bathroom is not safe either. I cleaned out a room upstairs and started a project, they all came to visit. I can't just grab a takeout meal, because why didn't I get them one too. I'm thinking about getting a job.

We have loved being at home. So very spoiled, loved groceries being delivered to our door. Have gotten all my projects finished. Finished using all my quilt stash. Keeping the homeless shelter supplied with quilts and hats. How in world could I have found out that I could cut hair.? Hubs and I have been very happy with our haircuts. We get our second Covid injection next Friday . We have no plans of making changes. May go to our mountain house over the summer. Always left the ocean during the summer , but we stayed here all last summer . Not all days have been butterflies and roses. We have seemed to find joy in each day, some days it was tiny joy. Thankful for this time to know that we are 82 and still strong. Yes, think slowing down to smell the roses has been a good thing for us. If we were younger, I may see it in another light. We have been retired since our fifties, so in most cases, been there done that.

I wish I was able to work from home. I love my home and miss it when I am at work. I just want back the freedom to be able to decide at the last minute we are having dinner out, instead of having to research which restaurant we can get into with the least amount of hassle

We've been splitting our time 50/50 between Los Angeles and our house in Cathedral City (Palm Springs are), and we have nice, large outdoor spaces at both houses. I would like to have people over, but I don't mind staying in our houses for this period. I miss going to fabric stores.

We have so much to do at both houses - much of it maintenance - that we do not run out of things to do. I think I prefer the house in CC because it has a pool, but it is a bit expensive to heat the pool in the dead of winter. It's no more expensive than cooling that house in the summer, however.

We have bikes at both houses and go for bike rides whenever we want, although I will not ride my bike in CC in the summer - I just spend more time in the pool.

My original plan was to rent the house in CC for additional income, and so our budget is stretched pretty thin now. Cathedral City put a moratorium on short term vacation rentals one week after we closed on that house, and so we haven't been able to rent it anyway. We're very glad to have it as a safe get-away, since not only are we prevented from air travel - we cannot afford it at this time.

There are lots of places for us to go for hikes or mountain biking in southern California, and so there's always that. I stopped going to the beach on a regular basis when we moved from Venice to Westchester in 2009, and I do miss that a bit, but it's still there. However, I will not be going back to the Venice boardwalk until the pandemic is over.

To answer the question: No, I do not find that the more I stay at home the more I want to. I definitely want to get out, but I'm not climbing the walls and am reasonably content.

No. I don't mind staying home by choice and can find plenty of things to stay occupied but the key word is choice. I also like alone time, again because I choose to be alone.

Other than the original shelter in place last Spring I don't really stay home very much more than before. The difference is in activities. Time I used to spend dining out or with friends is now horse time. I'm quite happy with that. I get both animals and people to interact with. It's extremely fulfilling on several counts.

DH and I share the shopping chores but mostly it's me. I can't wait to getting back to dining out, meeting up with friends and spending time with the grands. I miss the spontaneity of just deciding to go somewhere like a movie, a road trip or just a late night diner breakfast. So it's not staying home that I mind. It's the lack of choice in activities when I do go out. Last month I did get out of my bubble and met up with old friends for an afternoon at an event. It felt a bit odd to be normal for those few hours but it left me happy and reconnected.

DH and I are basically introverts so while we always enjoyed our outside activities, neither of us have difficulty staying at home. However, we really miss not having in-person visits with DS and family who live hundreds of miles away. We stay in touch with family and friends via Zoom, email and phone and have brief outdoor visits with neighbors. I go for regular walks with a friend in the neighborhood and have been borrowing books from the library. DH is more of a homebody than I am, and I fear that once travel is safe once again, he won't be eager for any overseas trips.

We have been homebodies for years- it was part of the point of moving out to the boonies. Picked a property we loved and wanted to stay home with. So we are kind of past the point of spending more and wanting more time- we had already stabilized out to feeling just right about our level of hermitude before 2020, lol.

We did usually take a few trips a year back to my home state for visits, and out to his folks place by us for more regular visits. Last year was one cautiously scheduled and planned summer visit for only me back home, and his mom isn't terribly happy with us for lack of getting together on the regular with her for a year. I do miss the ability of just casually deciding to pop off for a weekend back home, or getting together for dinner or brunch with MIL.

I was active in local elections for years and even was a politician for a term- don't miss that, and yes, staying home in 2020 from that really made me want to stay home more, heh. I might get the itch to want to get out and work elections again, that's fun for me.

Otherwise- for a long time we stayed home because we had to. When we were getting established here, for years it was work to pay for what we got, pay off what we had.. and not much else. Living our dream, because we chose the right place at the right time with the mindset of settling in and doing this. It was only in 2019 that we were starting to go out a bit more around locally.

Oh yes, a lot more than I used to. We went out almost everyday somewhere. We went out to eat a few days a week. Also loved our local bar for a few beers and see friends. Here in Michigan all bars and restaurant's are closed for indoor dining. Stinks. They are opening at 25% capacity on Monday. I want to be served.
