Vanity sink recommendations? Ladena, Caxton, something else?

Hi all, I need to order 2 sinks for our 72" master bath vanity. The Fergusons rep recommended 2 Kohler sinks (Ladena and Verticyl) as well as a Signature Hardware alternative. I notice in the archives here that a lot of Houzzers have used other sinks. Is the Ladena worth $200 more than the Kohler Caxton, for example? Or an American Standard or SH alternative, for that matter? I'm at that stage of the project where it's almost ludicrous to sweat these differentials, but somehow I feel compelled to ask anyway!

Hi,

I'm sweating that very decision. (I eliminated the Verticyl as I'm worried about poor drainage with the flat bottome) Which did you go with and how do you like it?

I haven't seen the Caxton in person and am so-so on the Ladena, but it's better than the other options.

We chose this Kohler Elmbrook undermount sink for our guest bathroom. While we wish the overflow hole was on the opposite side so you don't see it directly under the faucet, we preferred the look of the Elmbrook over the Ladena.

Our designer specified two XL Katie sinks for our 10 ft floating vanity in our primary bathroom (currently under construction). We're planning to install our sinks with a slight positive reveal and the Obrien sinks have a finished rim. Also they can be installed so the overflow hole doesn't appear directly under the faucets.

I used the Archer sink because I preferred its shape, but I'm posting pix because I hope it'll help give you an idea of the size in a small vanity/bathroom. Before: 19" wide self rimming sink in 36" wide vanity. During: outside dimensions of 19 5/8" x 15 5/16" and inside dimensions of 17" x 13," also in a 36" wide vanity. Someday I'll have an "after" pic too! The faucet has been installed since this pic was taken. To me the sink size is just right for this small vanity. It could fit a kid's face but could not be used for sponge bathing, if your kids ever try to take semi-baths in the sink. I hope that makes sense. Blue

I have Kohler Archer sinks in both bathrooms. I looked carefully this morning, and there are no corners that are "a pain to clean". The corners are not sharp - they're "soft" making it fairly easy to clean them. I personally love the sink - not suggesting you should like it, just don't turn it down for the wrong reason. (Disclaimer: I dislike standard oval sinks intensely - they always look like public restrooms to me).

My Kraftmaid vanity took three weeks and shipped from the Midwest somewhere to Oregon. The hardest part was finding a vanity top! The countertop overhang won't allow you to put the vanity flush against the wall. You can order a filler, but to accomplish what Pal talked about, your mom would need to purposefully push stuff into the opening because there's no opening from the top. I just dusted mine after four years with a cloth-covered stick and it had very little dust. MongoCt recommended recessing the filler about an inch so it disappears. I thought that was a good idea for vanities that have some type of decorative side or leg. I'm a lot younger than your mom and I hate the low drawers. Also, those are deep drawers so it's further to reach. If she has another spot for her daily small items like toothpaste and a brush, she can keep bottles and TP in there.

This is the first time I've posted on Houzz and I am suitably impressed with the thoughtfulness of the responses. The walk-in shower is really a top priority as my most frequent guests are my parents who are both 80...in good shape but I prefer them not to have to step over into the tub/shower combination. I am favoring the tub also for resale, but realistically resale is so far down the road that it will probably be ready for an upgrade by then and there is a tub in the master....so I guess now i'm down to tub and shower with single sink vanity and linen closet or shower and no tub with enormous linen storage and large vanity...……..I think i'll draw it up both ways and see how it looks and feels....thanks so much for all the feedback and the humor....Toby thank goodness I didn't just take a sip of my coffee or it would have been all over my screen!!

The Caxton is a classic, and people seem to like it. I like the shape of the Ladena better, and I feel like it is more popular now (reaching Caxton level.) I find the oval small and kind of silly, but you don’t have a ton of room with two sinks, so consider that. You are at decision-fatigue stage, but for this, I say drag yourself over to Ferguson and stand in front of both. Neither one is a bad choice. Good luck!

May I ask which sink you both went with? I also am contemplating one of these 2 sinks for a project and can't figure out which to go with. I do like the curvature of the Ladena and Caxton over the Verticyl because I think the Verticyl could have potential drainage and cleaning issues. Thanks for any help.
