Comments (25)Thank you for the lovely comments. Nini, lol the red party was for a ninth birthday the theme was “a minute to win it”. I am really proud of the parties I throw. Madeline was a perfect party. I got the idea off a blog and it was not hard to prep. I made the capes and hats and a suit case for the girls to hold their souvenirs that they made or acquired shopping in “Paris” and I set up separate rooms through out the house as shops. The girls got to go to the nail salon and spa, the dress shop to pickup their capes and hats, the bon bon to make their own truffles and shop at the penny candy store. they went to the Louvre where they painted on canvases and made Eiffel Tower magnets. Then the flower shop where they painted wooden flowers and clay pots. Then they earned their cooking diploma and ate their make your own crepes and cake at the bistro. It ended with pony rides and bobbing for donuts outside....See MoreThis is my favorite room - Amy
Comments (25)I have always loved your tall window room. And it is one of the best examples of cathedral ceiling height window treatments I have seen on this site. The proportions, the blinds, the colors, everything. There were so many decorating decisions you had to make and you nailed every one....See MoreMy Favorite Room - Rubyclaire
Comments (43)When i get teased by my friends for avoiding color, I will remember serene rooms like yours! I can't get enough of this look. To me, and I have said this before, "Southerners" have a knack for this kind of decor. I think of it as Cote de Texas, Verandah, and Ballard -esque. I'd describe is as a grand colonial style (hardwood, sturdy simple fabrics, not too much frou frou), infused with heirlooms from the Grand Tour (silver, porcelain, art). I love it....See MoreMy Favorite Room-Cyn427
Comments (34)I love the rug too and you will all be glad to know it is polypropylene and was really (really!) inexpensive. I needed a rug that would cover the entire floor which meant 18' (or 16?-can't remember) by 14'. I think it was from Rugs USA or some place like that after one of you mentioned buying a rug there. I am tickled that you all love it. Feel free to find it-it is soft and thick and parfait! I will see if I can find info on it. It is at least five or six years old now. Trail, love your bureau, too! The grain on yours is wonderful. The lamps are all family antiques that I have rewired. April (love your name btw, since I was born in April), all the window sills in our house were widened by a carpenter. I really wanted to be able to put things on them! The only thing better would be living in an old stone house with those foot or more deep walls that provide even more space for stuff! martinca, so nice of you to mention the bedding. Seeing the pictures, I was beginning to think maybe it was too stark and white, but I do love white bedding. Truth be told, it is usually covered with an old white sheet to protect the duvet cover from Samwise. The little half-Windsor side chair is one of a pair-again from grandparents and maybe greats. I think they were in the shore house kitchen and they are well-loved and showing it! Still, the green paint on them really works here and in the kitchen which is painted in Saybrook Sage. A nice bit of serendipity. Thank you all again!...See Moremtnrdredux_gw
