7 Rooms Fit for Favorite Characters From Emmy-Nominated Shows
We’ve found a few spaces perfect for characters from 2018’s series nominees
The series and specials the Television Academy will recognize at this year’s 70th annual Emmy Awards take their viewers from a 1980s women’s wrestling gym to a fantastical realm of dragons and ice zombies. And the characters that drive those diverse storylines are just as unique.
To celebrate the shows and stars fans love, we channeled seven of our favorite characters from some of this year’s nominated outstanding series and picked rooms where they’d feel right at home. Maybe our choices will inspire your next remodeling project — or binge-watching session.

The room: Stranger Things’ 1980s setting lends itself to a palette of glowing neons, and this converted attic in Dallas feels especially Joyce-like in that it contrasts those pops of color with a moodier backdrop.
Stranger Things fans will remember Joyce in Season 1 trying to communicate with her missing son through vintage Christmas lights. The mini lanterns hung here reference that, and they give the space a comfy, welcoming vibe with a hint of mystery (a lot like the show itself).

The room: Dre, the patriarch on the ABC comedy, has a serious thing for shoes — luxury sneakers especially.
This Toronto bedroom has stylish Dre written all over it with its sleek lines and pop-out shoe storage shelves.

The room: This castle-like dining room in New York is significantly more dramatic than the average home eating space, but then, Game of Thrones is significantly more dramatic than the average TV show. With its imposing stonework and regal-looking table stretching the length of the room, the space seems ready for Tyrion to pull up a seat and offer his insights on throne-seeking or protection from dragons and other danger.

The room: GLOW’s aesthetic is bold and bright, and Alison Brie’s Ruth is the show’s embodiment of that energy. This Miami bedroom translates that vitality with an eye-popping graphic rug, hot pink seating and mixed patterns. There’s a lot going on at once, just as there is with Ruth, but it works. Ruth’s not afraid to go big, and neither was this room’s designer.

The room: This Moscow flat echoes the refined sensibility of the royals on The Crown and filters it through a more playful lens, but the queen’s classic, tailored style still shines through.
While the actual queen may opt for something more understated than a Union Jack dresser and an animal print ottoman, the design taps into the show’s surplus of sophistication.

The room: Before Westworld’s Dolores started questioning her reality, her day-to-day life was filled with horseback riding, homespun clothes and other rustic details that recalled the old American West.
This bathroom updates some of those frontier qualities by pairing plenty of rough wood and saloon-style doors with more contemporary vessel sinks and light fixtures. The juxtaposition of old and new can also be seen in Dolores’ world.

The room: Budding comedian Miriam Maisel is a modern woman decked out in the polished style of 1950s New York City. This retro-style kitchen in Chicago combines old-school charm with timeless and even popular-again details such as a farm sink, open shelving and colorful cabinets.
