My favorite room
My favorite room is my most out of fashion red dining room. It is separated from my kitchen by a swing door and it has housed every at home dinner my family has eaten and it has been the backdrop for so many sit down dinner parties, holiday celebrations and birthdays that my heart fills with memories of great happiness and love every time I am in it. So although I have been thinking of redecorating it for years I have been reluctant to pull the trigger.
I love my China cabinets. One houses very old but used everyday China and the other has stemware
Kids of any age use real glasses and dishes always at my table with no issues yet :) I hate plastic.
Every birthday we cut out the age‘s number(s) and paper the walls. I loved planning and hosting old fashion “pin the tail“ type birthday parties and baby showers in this room

Comments (25)When my grandfather and great-grandfather built the house that I grew up in, they put windows between rooms, which I thought was normal when I was a child - even the window between my sister's bedroom and the central bathroom. My mother hung curtains on both sides of that window until she finally had it removed. So I can relate to the window to your living room and appreciate it! I've also seen new houses in Venice CA with windows between a bedroom and a bathroom, and so maybe that is a thing now. Just when I had learned that it was odd. Comments (36)Love it. And kinda jealous. I've always wanted a north country cottage. My own cottage-y home has ended up more English country than northwoods due to what I have inherited. At some point though, hubs and I would like to at least redo the master bedroom with a north country decorating vibe. I am really proud of the parties I throw. Madeline was a perfect party. I got the idea off a blog and it was not hard to prep. I made the capes and hats and a suit case for the girls to hold their souvenirs that they made or acquired shopping in “Paris” and I set up separate rooms through out the house as shops.
The girls got to go to the nail salon and spa, the dress shop to pickup their capes and hats, the bon bon to make their own truffles and shop at the penny candy store. they went to the Louvre where they painted on canvases and made Eiffel Tower magnets. Then the flower shop where they painted wooden flowers and clay pots. Then they earned their cooking diploma and ate their make your own crepes and cake at the bistro. It ended with pony rides and bobbing for donuts outside.
