Hey! I love your ideas so far, a newer deck/porch area would do a LOT, right now it looks a little fragile and some thicker beams with a light wood stain would look nice. As for something to modernize it I think white fascia and trim would do a lot for the overall appearance. Also some landscaping would totally help the look :)

I would give thought to removing the balcony/deck and wood porch. That looks like an add on. It appears to be too small to do any living on the balcony/deck and what else are they for? I'm guessing access to that balcony is through a bedroom and that's not really convenient for guests.

If you remove all that from the front, your home might look like this. If you really want to entertain off the front of the home, I would recommend expanding the front entrance porch and adding a pergola over a patio pad.

I love the stone of the house and would do some careful searching to find a material other than asphalt shingles to replace the mansard roof material.

This material shown below is perhaps a faux slate material.

I agree with Beverly re: porch and sliders. It's a lake house. I can't see hanging out on a street side deck off of a bedroom. Plus the sliders don't make sense visually. You need to draw more attention to the entry area: lighten it up, add some posts or planters.

You can select a dark charcoal gray for the shingles That should work great with the stone. Don't forget to get the stone washed at some point in your remodeling.

These are synthetic cedar shakes for a mansard.

HU-537018888 - I'm trying to understand why two sets of sliding doors and a balcony would be placed above the front door and don't see where you have confirmed that those rooms are bedrooms. Does the front of your home face the lake or some other attractive view?

The front does have a pretty view, however the back is much better. The sliders do lead into a bedroom and master bath
