House/window color -- white/white or white/black?
Comments (7)Black. Its more period and no matter what you do in the future will always look good. Dark sashes improve the appearance of the windows as negative space on the facade. Black interior sashes also practically disappear when you look out the window (try it - look out a white framed window and a black framed window - see which one you notice and which one is practically not there.) Finally, white tends to look cheap - vinyl-looking, as you said. And why let a vinyl window company decide what color your windows are for you? I got a feeling youll get white from the way your post was written ......See MorePella Proline Black Exterior Window/ White Interior Window - Help!!!
Comments (34)do you have window coverings? And do you love them? What brand did you go with? House looks great. I read the link someone posted and brought up the black interior and decorating. I was thinking of just doing all black in the living areas and black out with white inside in the sleeping areas. Thanks for the quick response! :) Would love to see more pics of your house. Comments (14)Replacement windows are usually smaller than the ones they replace, so you will be losing light if going that route. I'd also look into brands other than Pella. Their reputation is not great. You have a traditional colonial home. Don't try to make it something it's not with black windows. They have their place on some style of homes, but not yours. Stick with white. A nice compromise between what you want and what your husband wants (for your style home) would be grids on the upper portion of the double hung window and clear glass below. It's still appropriate for your home, but gives him a little of what he wants. They are usually a bit cheaper than the windows with grids on both sections. Like the photo below, but in white....See MoreWhite interior doors, need help with hardware finish. NEW BUILD
Comments (9)Mark - ha ha, I'm guessing you don't like a black/white home. Patricia, I don't have any photos as we just broke ground. I've been trying to find photos with the different looks. I was thinking the black hardware on white doors would look like a checkerboard, but I keep seeing it online. That's why I'm thinking polished nickel which is what we like and I think they are more of a timeless look, but want to hear/see from others. Thank you!...See Moreacm
