Bringing Inspiration picture of dining room to reality
Comments (14)I love, love green!! I wanted to do my dining room in a similar emerald green as your bedroom inspiration pic. The only reason I didn't do it was it is open to the entryway (which I have plans for a crazy wallpaper) and from there you can see the pink living room. So, I did gray but with green banana leaf drapes. Really love it. I definitely think you can do different shades of green in different rooms, especially ones that are on separate floors. As for the chinoiserie drapes, excellent idea! I just did a cursory search - of course Scalamandre, Clarence House and Manuel Canovas have amazing chinoiserie fabrics but they are super expensive. I did find a link to a discontinued Schumacher fabric that I love, but the background is hot pink/fuschia (which I love with green but might be a little much). How about this Schumacher fabric: http://www.fschumacher.com/search/ProductDetail.aspx?sku=175040 It's a very pretty green, but maybe not the shade you are looking for?...See MoreHow do I bring this room together? Comments (34)I can totally relate to what you're going through. I used to look at my bedroom and think there's just something off or missing. I bought, returned and exchanged bedding like nobody's business. It was a running joke in my family. I finally realized it was the way I made my bed. I still love to change my bedding but now I stick with a few core pieces. These items never change: White bedskirt - tailored or ruffled (your personal preferance) White Sheets: - Fitted and flat White Pillow cases: Number of pillows depends on size of bed I've upgraded through the years and now have a white coverlet, shams and bedskirt (I also have my plain white set, just in case). This has really worked out well for my fickle personality. I've included a picture of my bedding and I feel the key to liking your bedroom is how the bed is made. Do you have a white set of sheets? If not, they're quite inexpensive and Wal-mart carries them along with bedskirts. Fold your quilt/comforter at the foot of your bed. Depending on the size of your bed, place 2-3 white pillows first, then shams and and 2 more white pillows and finish it off with one decorative pillow. I have a Cal. King bed which calls for a few more pillows. I hope this helps. I also feel it doesn't matter if your bedding has a cream background (mine does) instead of white as long as your sheets and bedskirt are white it pulls it all together. BTW I liked your red bedding, I think it just needed a little tweaking. I also like what you have now. Good luck and most of all have fun!!...See Morefamily room, help bringing it together!
Comments (7)I agree with you. The windows are stunning! You could try putting the chairs on one wall facing the sofa on the other wall and the TV where the sofa is now (in a nice cabinet). If the cords are an issue, you could strategically place a large plant or something to direct traffic around the left side, which would also highlight your gallery wall. This arrangement should feel cosier and give each seat have a view of both the fireplace and the TV. I don’t generally like the look of an area rug on a carpet but, if you’ve found a look you like, try it....See MoreDecorating help - Rug, art, bedding? Bringing it together
Comments (3)Thank you Yayagal. Here's my floor plan. Oh! The pic came out so small! The room is a rectangle with a wall of windows opposite the bed. Dimension are 17" x 14". Outside the wall of windows is a covered deck, so not much natural light. The ceiling is high and not vaulted, but it has angles (1989 built). Here's a pic of the room now (before new furniture/paint/etc.). I was moving things around, taping where I'd want things to go so it's a mess and not normally this crazy looking. The bed will be going in between the window, as it's laid out in the pic above. Sorry, I can't turn the pic around?! Also, big cat tree was moved out :) So embarrassing! New off white wood blinds (like these) have been ordered. I love rich colors, like navy blue, deep burgundy red, gold-green (like a gold-moss color?). My furniture had brushed nickel hardware but I'm going to also had some bronze accents here and there. I don't want it to be matchy-matchy. And my husband has to like it too. Can't be too girly. My only thought was light grey bedding with color accents. I have a few inspiration photos on my home computer I'll post tonight....See More- 3 years ago
