Any personal experience with a vintage-''look'' range?
Comments (88)I have a Heartland stove 9200 that is about 26 yrs old. Bought it for the look. No problems for 19 yrs. Then the burner knobs started getting difficult to turn. Paid for appliance repair to come out but they were unable to repair. Situation worsened, called Aga Marvel and bought some repair parts. They never supported my efforts. Called Thompson Appliance in Tacoma, Wa. My experience with them leads me to to say never call them. The stove new was almost $5,00. delivered and installed. Thompson came out said I needed to have it taken into the shop, polished up and rehauled. They reportedly went to a recent seminar on the stove at Aga Marvel. I paid 2,500 with the parts and after a few months, same problem. They are a dishonorable team of father and son (son being the worst). I lived with one working burner for about 2 yrs. until I found an excellent repair person on Vashon Is, Wa. Issue with these burners: careful to not get water spilled down into the burners. Rust develops. I believe that was the only problem. Heartland was bought out by Aga Marvel and now have some stove parts but phasing out. Good luck....See MoreAnyone with experience with the La Cornue Albertine?
Comments (7)I had a similar dilemma as you and went with the Bluestar. We have a 136 year old Victorian and just renovated the kitchen. I was dead set against a stainless range as I felt it wouldn't work with the look of the house. I knew that the cooking capabilities of the Bluestar were far superior but was thinking I'd go with asthetics over function. I was in love with the look of the La Cornue Cornufe ranges and was convinced these were what would work best. I had a hard time finding a place that had the Albertine in person but finally found one. Once I saw the quality of the product I was very disappointed. In person it looked fake and poorly made. I never had the opportunity to cook with the Cornufe Albertine so can't speak to that. I'm sure it would be as good as most high end professional ranges. I will say I love my Bluestar and am so happy I went this route. In the end it looks great in my kitchen and doesn't feel out of place. Because Bluestar ranges are so bare bones it works. The cast iron burners feel old and as they've been there for quite some time. My cabinetry and hardware all were designed to look like they'd always been there. My refrigerator and dishwasher are fully integrated so there's not a lot of stainless showing (only range and wall oven/microwave). If you haven't seen the Albertine in person, I'd suggest you find it and decide for yourself. I love cooking on my Bluestar (2 1/2 months so far) and know, for me, it was the right decision. Best of luck to you....See MoreWhich 36" gas ranges come in colors & matching hoods?
Comments (6)The Ilve ranges are beautiful, if you are seeking that vintage look. ModernAire has any number of shapes and sizes and powdercoat colors can be matched to an color chart you submit (RAL, etc), with no upcharge! They have a wide variety of strapping and finish options to complement whatever range you select, including the Fratelli you have your eye on. I used them for my CornuFe, as I was only shown the hood for the La Cornue Chateau....See MoreHallman range vs Ilve
Comments (93)Hello! something strange haooened to me and i wanted to see if anyone had insight. I had worked with an Ilve consultant (out of New Jersey) at the begininng of the year to quote out an Ilve Nostalgie 48inch range. I chose Ilve over Hallman mostly because I had heard bad things about Hallman’s customer service. Well personal stuff came up and we had to post-pone our kitchen renovation to 2022, when i went to contact the Ilve rep to finally complete my order I received an OOO/maternity leave email bounce back. Not a big deal (congrats to her!) but the sales phone number her OOO email provided was answered by someone who answered as ”Hallman.” Are they now the same company? Also the price went up $2,000 from January.. crazy!...See Morejoe12333
