we would be further ahead ... . figuring out why they are dying ... rather than simply trying to fert life back into them ... if your plants are stressed.. fert is not really a recommended treatment .... we also need to rule out that this is just a normal season thing ....

and can you explain any facts that some are doing better than others.. like repotting.. media.. location .,... etc ...

i use a gallon milk jug.. and put just enough water sol fert in it.. until i can see the water change color .. and use this very dilute water.. to water the plants ... im guessing it is less than 10% of the recommended dilution ...

No pictures but I think it is a seasonal thing and maybe a little bit of overwatering (let the pot stand in water overnight), I usually just cut off the dead fronds and baby the plant for awhile and it comes out of its unhappiness. I was just curious if fert is even recommended for Maidenhair ferns or any fern for that matter. My ferns are in a south window that has sheers so light is filtered. The one I have in a north window is doing okay also but not growing as prolific as the ones in the other windows. Thanks Ken.

Any plant grown in a container with a standard potting soil - indoor or out - will need fertilization! There is no other way for them to access the nutrients necessary for healthy growth without supplemental fertilization as there is none (ferts or nutes) or almost none in potting soil. But fertilization is typically reserved for application during the primary growing season - March through October.

Maidenhair ferns are not the easiest to grow indoors. They prefer evenly/consistently moist potting soil and high humidity. They dislike dryness in any form but they also do not appreciate soggy soil/poor drainage. They like bright but indirect light but will tolerate lower light levels as well.
