Help with exterior paint please--what trim color goes where?
Comments (6)Thanks, for the ideas, Outside. Do a darker sage instead of black? Hmm yeah I could see that! The spouse was a little alarmed when I suggested black. :) Really, everything goes with the roof. It's quite neutral. The bricks aren't so neutral but not too bad as long as we don't do as the POs did and pick the ugliest one and match the paint to it. Yes, the cheap new windows installed by the PO are sort of cream colored vinyl clad (with 80s French blue trim--where's my goose in a bonnet?). In the back they are still simple aluminum framed. With blue trim. We do have a lot of stuff going on with the brick, stucco, cedar, siding...I had to tone down my landscaping materials because it was going to be just too many things fighting....See MoreRed metal roof goes with what colors?
Comments (4)I'm not great at visualizing colors either and I was really stuck on what to do with the red roof. So I hired someone to do a color consultation. I used Robert Schweitzer and I can highly recommend his service. He does new construction in addition to historic houses. When you look at his fees as a percentage of overall cost, it was totally worth it. Here are the colors I used. All Sherwin Williams. Body - Sage 2860 Trim - Roycroft Vellum 2833 Accent - Birdseye Maple 2834 Shutters - Rookwood Dark Green 2816 Door and Sashes - Rookwood Red 2802 Here is a link that might be useful: Schweizer...See MoreColor Scheme for Home with a Green Metal Roof
Comments (3)I love standing seam metal roofs. Unfortunately, your house sits up so high that all you can see is a small vertical section of it, so it looks like a mansard roof. That detracts. I would not do white, but a warm, light grey would be nice. And not light green for vinyl siding; that would just look cheap....See MoreHELP! What Color to Paint Siding that Goes With Brown Trim
Comments (16)Noticed the grading equipment. Is this a new build? Nice home; congrats. You might consider adding a sidewalk that begins from in front of the door, straight out for about six feet and then arcs toward the driveway -- to where the door of a car parked in the driveway might logically be. Between that sidewalk and the front porch would be a logical place to plant a flower garden -- perhaps with a plain concrete bird bath in the center of it and/or (nearer the driveway) a treated post with a solar light atop it and some brackets for hanging flower pots and/or wind chimes and/or bird feeders and/or seasonal decorations....See MoreRelated Professionals
