Design Dilemma Paint Exterior

Exterior paint advice needed! Mediterranean and prairie features?

Hi everyone! I’d love some help with selecting paint colors for the house we recently purchased. I am very much an amateur with this process, so please be kind. :)

Dilemma: It seems we have a prairie-style house with a decidedly Mediterranean roof, plus a reddish flagstone skirt/pavers that I’m not sure how to classify.

Ask: Any recommendations for base paint and trim colors that will bring all of these elements together in a cohesive way?

Background details:

The red tile roof is the name of the game in our neighborhood, so not much flexibility there.
I originally thought an off-white would go best with the roof/stone (more Mediterranean palette), but our house is very long and horizontal, and I’m worried it will just look massive. After looking at more prairie-type houses, I’m thinking some sort of earth tone would be best?
I would love to incorporate some sort of contrasting trim color (navy blue is a favorite of mine), but not 100% sure how to do so.
In terms of improvements, we’re focused on paint color right now, but open to hearing other design suggestions as well!

off-white + taupe tones work well, if they have a connection to your stone.

But is your stone as pink as it appears in your photograph?

Need help finding a light colored paint for our exterior stucco walls. Something between a "beige" and a "white". Accent colors for window panes, corbels, facia, etc are in med. brown tones. Roof will be dark brown shingles. Has anyone found a color they love in beige-white? Has anyone done a two tone trowel(2 paint colors applied simultaneously by 2 painters)? Or an integrated paint job where the paint is put into the wet concrete stucco instead of a more standard paint application on stucco surface? Any advice?!!

If you were to used the dark for the windows it would just be the vinyl portion of the window and the trim that wraps the outside would match the trim color you are going to use for the eave and around the outside of the doors. This top picture does have divided lights, but they are so thin that they are almost invisible. I have attached a couple more pictures of different options. These are not my pictures, so I have included the link. Good info Juliet. I think I'm switching sides and getting aboard the stain train LOL. I just looked and there is in fact a wide range of masonry stain colors/ opacities - even some that look a lot like the light grays and blue grays in OP's pics above. The difference is it reads more like real brick vs. the thick paint coating on top which obscures the texture. BTW Ive always considered these forums to be a community-wide discussion, and by participating (commenting, reading responses from others, looking stuff up to be sure I know what I want to say) I often learn stuff too as much as the OP does, if not more so. Posters should not expect a one-on-one consultation - you will get whole gamut of opinion! But thats the value of this forum - some new direction might come up that you wouldnt get by talking to only one person. As maddening as Houzz often is, it really is a good resource!

IMO white would be very appropriate for the house but you need to remove the stone IMO first . Not one house maylee posts is anything like yours and honestly IMO yours needs to be one color . I also think you need huge plant pots filled to overflowing with plants that flower and all placed on that huge patio surface Black windows and doors would be awesome but not cheap. IMO a contrasing trim will cheapen the house and its style I love long ranch style houses and IMO look best when all elements are kept simple

This is a nice combination for exterior with a terracotta roof too. It all depends just how ‘pink’ your stone is which ’white’ to choose. I do like the warmth of the stone.

@Marylee - Thank you so much for the color combos! The stone does have a pinkish tinge while the roof leans more orange. And I like your turquoise suggestion; reminded me that I also love sage greens, which I think could be nice here too!

@Patricia - Thanks for your thoughts! I would LOVE to change the windows to dark frames but that might have to be a future update. Good point about the trim - do you think a sage green would work as an accent or would you go all white everywhere?
