What to do with this living room? Stuck with some furniture and layout

Hello folks! So, the pandemic made us move from the city to the country-side, but left us without strength to figure out our living room. It is a beautiful house, but we feel that we have already made some mistakes with furniture choices and are afraid to move forward. Our challenges:

1. Color palette: first floor has living room, kitchen, solarium and dining room. Everything is in white/shades of grey colours, that are fresh and we like them, wont change those. The living room is set in brown and previous owners had accents of red in it (see in pics: red curtains, decorations, sofa). We do not like brown or red very much, but are keen to give some colour to our living room.. which colour? to make it go well with the rest of the first floor? Teal, turquoise, blue? What

to make in accent colours?

2. We are stuck for now with the L-shaped sofa that you see in the picture and the brown wooden show case cabinets next to the fire place. How to play around them and not waste the rest of the space in the living room? I feel that we are wasting the space near the bay window, where previous owners have managed to have to chairs instead. And also, we have only sofa as a sitting option, but if one day we receive guests, it would be nice to have something else too.. arm chairs? what kind? again colour? and you will see from the picture the layout of the living room, so I wonder where to put any additional chairs without obstructing the space, or blocking the passages to the dining room, and other parts of the house.

Here are some links of something that makes me feel relaxed, when I look at it. Living rooms that speak to me:

Thank you! All ideas and advice are super greatly appreciated. I am on the verge of getting rid of the l-shaped sofa and those show cases.. but for the sake of the family peace I will try to live with them for a couple of years… (Hate them, they block everything!)

:) Thanks again
