Sure, the names are Silas Marner and The County Parson. They both are shown as "new this year". I'm assuming their website is up to date. I don't remember hearing about them before.

I remember posted the news on my Instagram here https://www.instagram.com/p/B7UMStSAEn8/ and Marlorena in the UK also got them last year. Maybe the UK doesn't have more new roses to release this year so they consider those as the newest that they have? :) Helen

Yes, they put new releases and then in the wording it said 2020. Have they ever gone a year without an entirely new release? Somehow I missed Marla Rena getting them. I thought she got tottering by gently, but that must have been the year prior. I have to read her old posts and see what she said.

I decided to grab Eustachia Vye and Gabriel Oak along with an Alan Titchmarsh/Huntington Rose.

The newbies because I'm a fragrance lover more than a colour fan, but since I've neither, it will be fine. Plus, who knows- if you're curious about them, it may be your only shot at getting it knowing how THEY operate.

Also- I called DAR-USA today to have an error on my behalf corrected with a variety change because I picked two of one thing, and thinking, "Oh, six items in my cart. That's how many varieties I was looking to get so yeah we'll just finish this out".

I was told that they didn't have the 2021 Promo Code available to give but to check my email and mail for the catalogue and it will be there.

I asked on a few things just to be sure, and I was informed Chianti IS available, Janet out-of-stock (I've looked at this one for years), and yes, common knowledge I know, but Dame Judi Dench has indeed been pulled from the NA market.

I added these two new roses when they were available this morning. I planted James Austin last season, it’s a great bloomer and very healthy.

So discouraged to learn that Dame Judi has been eliminated, but thanks for letting us know Steven; I can finally stop waiting in vain. Would be nice if they'd take her off the US site instead of giving us false hope :(

In spite of potential disappointment, I just keep saying that I should have ordered it the introduction year because it DID interest me. I've been wondering if Dame Judi Dench really needs a root stock that is NOT Dr. Huey to thrive *OR* if she needs budded and grown somewhere other than Texas, Arizona, or California because I can't imagine that DJD is successful over on the continent and nowhere here in North America. There's just no way that's possible. The Right Roses even lists her vigour as 9.0/10.0! Maybe we'll find someone with one.

I made an impulse buy earlier today and bought Eustacia Vye after ordering 5 roses from my local garden center. I have no idea where I will plant my purchases in my yard and I have a Palentine order as well. I am considering putting Eustacia Vye in a large pot but I don’t know what I am doing with roses in pots, and not sure it will winterize. I am zone 6/7 so was going to look for zone 4 hardy roses to pot. Oh well plenty of time to find a spot in the ground if need be.

I am looking forward to seeing pics of others on here with this one.

Interesting to hear that some of us still want Dame Judi. I grow her - it is her second year in my garden. She is in lots of shade, perhaps not quite 2-3 hours of sun a day. She grew to about 3 x 3. Not the most floriferous of all the Austins I have, but it blooms steadily in deep shade. I plan to keep her because it is hard to find a rose that blooms consistently in so much shade. Her color is intense apricot, almost orange. The bush form is relaxed, with flexible canes. The pedals recurse back.

Maybe this rose needs more shade that many north american garden can offer? It surely grows for me, but it is a compact rose bush.

Good to know about Freedom Gardens. I just checked out their website and seems they offer to custom propagate a rose for individual customer.

FG had Dame JD for current sale in the Summer so it may come again. He has over 2000 different varieties.

I got a DJD from Peter at Freedom Gardens this fall. This was the first time I've ever ordered from him, and I was very surprised at how tiny the plants are. But they seem to be healthy and are doing fine. If you really want any of his rare roses, just be aware that they are very small. I also got JAYNE AUSTIN, BIBI MAIZOON and THE ENDEAVOUR. He seems to be the only source for those varieties.

I am going to keep my eye on the DA website. I'm a sucker for hopeless causes. Last year Christopher Marlow had been listed as sold out on the website for ages, and I had even called DA to ask if maybe they still had it. Sometimes a phone call can be successful when the stock is just too low to advertise on a website. But nope, I was told emphatically that it was discontinued. Some time later I was browsing the site and to my amazement it was available. I ordered it and got it.

Thank you very much for suggesting Peter's Freedom Gardens. I'm just a few miles from the Ohio state line (Indiana is closest; there's a camp nearby called "Michindo" even!) too.

I certainly enjoy his Right Rose, Right Place.

I do have FG bookmarked and will look into inquiring about DJD when I feel like I'm up for it (phone calls are something I've never particularly enjoyed and they make me a little anxious).

I really like her colour and that Marlorena mentioned they blooms can smell of tar. Fascinating!

Steven, you recently wrote about a rose road trip. I would encourage you to visit his June open house. It's a remarkable garden and such an opportunity to see what does well without coddling. He sells the majority of his roses then, as opposed to mail-order. It is difficult to grow roses in Z5 to as large specimens as other own root vendors, although he may custom graft to multiflora.. He did that last year when the late coldsnap hit in June and killed some plants. If you are interested drop an email and avoid the conversation if you're more comfortable with that. He's very responsive to email. The plants I've received are small, but considering he was the only source for them and they've all thrived and really grown well, I'm not so concerned. Even as small plants put in the ground in the Fall, they all survived the winter. Fingers crossed that 2020's rarities do the same. I hope to pick up this year's in June and grow them up myself.

My Dame Judi Dench croaked after just 1 season in part shade.

Now I see why people keep ordering roses.

Eustacia Vye looks like an updated Abraham Darby, (and Emily Bronte looks like an updated Evelyn), don't you think? Although the DA photos don't look that great. I've been hooked on the Right Roses website! Not sure how these would perform in the US as opposed to the UK though.
