I disagree I don't think it can wait. For one, there is stripped wallpaper everywhere and stripped popcorn ceilings - who wants to live with that? Nothing transforms a home and makes it yours like a fresh coat of paint in some colors you love. I know everyone says how colors look different in different homes etc BUT if you choose colors you love and paint it now, you will definitely feel like it is more "yours" and fresher, cleaner and nicer with a coat of paint even if the color is not 100% perfect for the lighting or whatever. I chose our colors before we moved in and before we put the furniture in (so much easier to paint with the floors out and nothing inside!). We are delighted with the colors! We have mainly BM Mascarpone a warm white without noticeable pink or yellow undertones, accent wall in the living room and office BM Mexicana, and the bedroom is BM Wedgewood Grey (a calm spa color I just adore it). I would pick a warm white color and paint everything including ceilings that color and pick one or 2 accent walls to paint darker, if you end up not liking the accent color it is easy to repaint one wall.

After seeing your very pretty living room, I understand your hesitance to go red on the front door. If the room is an example of your taste, you go for more muted tones. Don't think I'm crazy for suggesting a "purple", but there are two really lovely Sherwin Williams muted plum colors that might give the feeling of your gray but be a bit more interesting. My friends has the same color shutters that you do with SW Expressive Plum on her front door and its soft and lovely. I also really, really like the one shade darker on the color card but I can't find my card or remember the name. But this is just a suggestion, you may hate plum! I have door that is one color (in my case wood) but sidelights and transom are white like the trim around my windows, etc. However I think it works on my house b/c I have the transom, flagstone steps leading up to a portico with a copper roof. All of those things give the entrance more weight/importance. Since your entrance is more flat, I think your next best bet (and cheapest!) is to give the entrance more weight by making it look bigger/more important...ie, painting it as though it is all one unit. And maybe going with a slightly more interesting color (but still muted they way you like.) But I do think you went a step in the right direction painting the sidelights like the door! I don't know that painting those vertical trim pieces a third color would help...that would still break up the "unit". (And just to clarify, just the vertical white trim b/t the door and sidelights. The trim around the entire thing is good the way it is.) Its a pretty nice color but have you thought about going a shade or so darker? As you mentioned, outside in the sun things can look very light.

My house is a very formal 1951 Southern Colonial Cape Cod traditional home. So, I was very conscious of trying to honor the traditional style. Rather than doing the stacked cabinet, consider what I did with the larger single wall cabinet and dropped soffit trimmed with crown and trim moldings. It wasn't difficult to do the dropped soffit. It might save you a significant sum of money. I think it might be worth exploring. I love the BS range top. It's a beast. I scrimped in other areas to get that range top. I'm glad I did. Don't forget the ventilation. It adds to the cost. I recycled the existing Vent-A-Hood. If you have to wait a year in order to save up for it, I would do it. Once you fire it up, you will understand the difference. I was replacing a very nice Thermador cooktop. I am happy customer. It was a good decision. About the tall utensil storage drawer, we had a very deep drawer in a three-drawer stack. The two drawers above are the same size as all of the other top drawers throughout. The remaining space in the stack is taken up by the single tall drawer. One warning, the drawer face is very heavy. So be sure to have really beefy drawer slides on that drawer. The Blum slides were plenty hefty. We purchased a bunch of of bain marie's from Amazon. We bought a piece of fancy maple veneer plywood from Lowe's and a can of spray-on varnish. We traced the outline of the bottom of the bain marie's on the plywood and cut out the outline with a hole saw attachment on our drill. We sprayed the plywood with the varnish and let it dry. It looks just like the maple finish of the rest of the interior. We attached a couple of pieces of wood on each side and back of the drawer to allow the plywood form to rest on them. We dropped the ban marie's into the slots and filled them with utensils. It was pretty simple once you thought about it. You can do something similar with the Rev-a-shelf pull out drawer, remove some of the shelves and add ban marie's. There are a number of examples if you ask for them on GW.

I have much the same.... a combination of shaker and flat, although my kitchen is all white. I did pulls on everything and love the look. All of my pulls are horizontal as in the picture you posted, and my tall cabinets (fridge /freezer/ pantry) have 12" vertical pulls. As your picture shows, my pulls are not huge. In fact, I think some of mine are smaller than the ones shown (although I love the look you show as well!)
