Allergies and the Covid vaccines

Reports of a few serious allergic reactions to the Pfizer vaccine (and possibly the Moderna as well?) got my attention as I have several allergies, including one (to potatoes, of all things) that's potentially dangerous.

We're told not to take the vaccine if we're allergic to it, but how are we supposed to know if we're allergic to it? I looked at charts of the ingredients in both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, but the only ingredient that was familiar to me was polyethylene glycol, which is in some eye drops. I know I'm not allergic to that.

They say those with allergies should get the vaccine in a facility like a hospital, where medical help is available if needed. I hope it's not difficult to do that.

I didn't save the charts I saw, but here's an article that tells pretty much the same thing. Do you have allergy concerns?
