I did shaker fronts on all areas 9" or taller, and slabs on the rest. I thought full shaker would look too busy since I have some small drawers. We have cup pulls on all drawers and knobs on all doors. Here's where I get stupid. :) (Not really, we're building and don't move in until this week and exact placement of hardware is eluding me right now...) I think our cup pulls are centered on slab fronts and rail-mounted on shaker fronts. I have some pics at home and will be happy to share this evening if you're interested. Now it's bugging me that I can't remember!

I went through this dilemma. My cabinetmaker told me that shaker 5-piece drawer fronts are made two ways: most commonly, the center panel is a thin piece of wood, sometimes just 1/4" thick and flat on both sides. In the other option, the center panel is actually a reversed raised-panel, with the flat side "out" and the raised side "in". In that case, it's a full 3/4"+ thick. She advised that it's better to have the pulls in thick material (especially for big heavy drawers) so in the first case they should go in the frame. We have the reverse-raised-panel type, so ours are in the centers.

Yes, there are tons of options that look good with shaker cabinets. Depends on what you like and what feel you're looking for. Maybe share pics of your space as well as inspiration pics and ideas you're considering? I decided to do pulls on drawers and most doors, with some latches for less-used cabinets (looks nice but not super practical).

Since you have cup pulls now, you've got to consider changing to another style and the holes made for those may not work with another style. It sounds like you've taken this into consideration are again looking for cup pulls? I've mixed sources of polished nickel in my baths and kitchen. I have RH polished nickel towel racks and sconces; with Minka Lavery light fixtures and Delta faucets. My refinished 1933 tub came with a polished chrome faucet, and since it's not up next to the other fixtures, even it's unnoticeable. In my kitchen, my custom cabinet maker provided the polished nickel pulls and my overhead fixture and pendants are Hudson Valley. I can't tell a difference. So -- I think satin nickel may be similar. You can always buy one pull and compare it to your fixtures.
