Kathsgarden...out of curiosity

Why is your son shipping his car to England? Since in the UK they drive on the left, the driver's seat will be on the wrong side and it will be trickier to drive. Normally, whichever side of the road you drive on, the driver is situated nearer the centre of the road so it's easy to tell where the dividing line is. When you're driving a car where the driver's seat is on the curb side, it's harder to tell. We occasionally get left hand drive cars here and you see them straying over the centre line much more frequently than regular cars.

For the expense of shipping, I would have thought it was easier and potentially safer to sell or garage the US car in the US and purchase something local in the UK.

He wants it. I talked to him about that very thing but he just paid it off early and doesn't want another car payment. Plus, he isn't paying for shipping it, the Air Force is.
