He has NO clue what he is doing!!

You need to have some sort of built up crown design that covers the gap, and still goes with your cabinet style.

He has certainly made a mess of the ceiling. Those cracks are from putting more mud on top of mud that wasnt dry enough to begin with, and thats not the way you would repair that mess anyway. Please tell him to stop and get someone in there that knows exactly what they are doing. Now, you also have a ceiling mess to straighten out, and the best way to do that, is to remove that cabinet, and get that gunked on mud out of there, and the ceiling repaired and then start over. It should have a much larger moulding on both sides. Whoever did the ceiling, should have made sure it was level to begin with. Hopefully, it is just the ceiling and that the whole room isnt sagging on that side, in which case, it could be foundation problems.

I also hope there is no leak from the roof.

It’s an older condo and the ceiling was not square.

too much mud, it dried too fast and cracked. that all needs to be redone.

I actually had this same prob w/my ceiling. I had my guy skim coat the high area to even out w/the rest.

wish I had a better before pic of the ceiling. It was above the fridge and ran from the wall over to the right, just about where the stove starts. the gap was about 2" on the far left. you can barely see it w/the shadows.

the ceiling was not level, how should it be fixed? finishing strips or larger crown molding? The cabinets are level at the bottom. Or should the ceiling itself be fixed?

a competent drywall person and skim coat and feather it. just like mine.

the other person who attempted it, doesn't know what they're doing. pay the money to have a pro drywall guy come in.
