where to buy coleus right now (Almost August)?
Comments (4)why not just buy seed? Then you can select from an extensive variety list. They start really slow, but do fine in the house over winter as houseplants as long as they are near a sunny window. Coleus from seed have always been easy/hardy for me....See MoreWhat are you doing right now?
Comments (30)Most of my containers are molasses feed tubs, and I have grown in them for over a decade now. I grew in smaller containers too when I had fewer molasses feed tubs, but now that I have so many of them, I use the smaller containers less often. I think I have roughly 45-50 of the molasses feed tubs, and then I have a few large tree containers about the same size that Mitch brought to one of the Spring Flings in OKC 4 or 5 years ago. I also grow something every year in a 4' round stock tank that is so old the bottom has rotted out long ago....and in new cattle feed troughs on legs because that puts the lettuce and other salad greens too high for the rabbits and other small varmint to reach them. Other folks here also grow in molasses feed tubs. Melissa posted a photo last fall of her greenhouse filled with black tubs of all kinds of stuff. I think that growing in large containers with a drip irrigation system on a timer is just about as carefree and easy as you can make gardening here. The hardest part is the expense of filling up a lot of containers at one time. What am I doing now? lol Watching it rain and after a lot of months of watching it not rain, I am not complaining. I moved the lemon and orange tree containers out from the sunporch to the outdoors so the trees can enjoy the rain. I harvested lettuce, kale, Swiss chard and mustard to feed the chickens, brought in chicken eggs, etc. before it started raining. I am close to doing some winter sowing...probably in the next 4 or 5 days. Today I'm working on my grow list of flowers, herbs, and misc. stuff for 2013. After I make a list of what I want to grow, I'll double-check it against the seeds in my seed box to make sure I have everything. If there's something I need, I'll order it today. I think I have most everything, but need to check and make sure. We've had a lot of rain in the last month so the ground is too wet to work, but I'm eager to get out and play in the soil as soon as it dries up some more. The ground has been so dry for so long that I really don't even mind the mud, except when I'm mopping up muddy paw prints and footprints off the floor....See MoreTTC in 6 months.. what to do right Now?
Comments (13)I agree with the above post. Lose the extra weight before trying to conceive. I was about 15 lbs heavier than I like to be when I conceived (last February) It was right after the holiday eating binge and I fractured my foot and was unable to work out for a month and a half which led to the weight gain. I was thrilled to be pregnant, but not to start out fifteen lbs ahead already! My baby was born 11 weeks ago, and I have 10lbs till I am down to where I was at when I became pregnant, but then I STILL have fifteen more to go after that! YUCK! Be careful though, you don't want to lose too much, or lose too fast because that could upset you menstrual cycle and all your hormones. Maybe just exercise a bit more and make sure you are eating a healthy diet. I would start on prenatals because they are so important! My doctor said the ones over the counter are just as good as prescription. I would take a vacation, or even just stay in a hotel for a night. Save $$ as much as you can. I am a teacher, and when school lets out in May I will not be coming back...my baby needs me...I miss him so much right this minute I could cry! You will want to be with your baby if at all possible so start that home based business. Don't buy baby things till your pregnant, and even then, I have just recently learned...DON'T BUY NEWBORN STUFF! My baby is 2 1/2 months and this morning he is comfortably wearing a 6month outfit! He is not fat...just so long! So many people will give you newborn stuff, they will wear it once. Save your $$$ for when all the gifts quit pouring in. When I was pregnant, I started stockpiling diapers. This has helped a TON. I kept all the receipts in case my baby didn't do well with a particular brand I could return them, but so far he is doing great. We haven't returned any! We just went and bought a jumbo pack of diapers every pay period while I was pregnant. That sure helped. We probably won't be buying diapers for a year! It's nice, because since we are paying daycare until May money is tighter, and diapers are expensive even with coupons, so it was nice to get that out of the way. I will quit rambling, everyone else answered so well it looks like you have tons of great help! Aspen (and baby Logan)...See MoreIf you could buy a new sewing machine for quilting right now
Comments (14)marti8a- I have a Pfaff Quilt Expressions 2048. It sews beautifully, but only has a shorter throat & one light. The replacement was the Quilt Expressions 3.0 & more expensive 4.0 which has had some sort of computer problem, which I believe upgrades fix these earlier problems. I bought the 2048 at a tremendously discounted price because it was no longer the current model.I am very happy with it. Using a single hole needle plate improved the stitch quality, and takes care of the need to use leaders. The wide slot in the needle plate is what causes the fabric to jam in the beginning. The wide slot is required for the decorative stitches. I read your other post - you really cannot compare the low end $200-$300 range to the upper end machines. My Pfaff dealer and I talked about this last week. They are trying to capture the market share they are losing to the "Walmarts" by offering entry level machines that are made elsewhere to be competitive. I don't think you are comparing them, I just wanted to encourage you not to keep the cheaper machine you bought on impulse if it does not fit your needs. I guess I'm trying to say your buyers remorse is justified. Hard decision....See MoreFlat Pack Kitchen Design
