Sunbrella. It has come a very long way. It's no longer just for outdoors.

A friend just bought a sofa that looks like linen.

I have it on my patio furniture and it looks great and cleans up really well.

If you are only keeping them for a year or two depending on the type of chair what if anything you use to attach the fabric would depend. Is it possible to create a pillow type casing with a longer flap on one end then sew the flap to the cloth?

I covered my dining room chairs with faux leather. I have little sticky finger grands that come frequently. All i have to do is wipe them off with a damp rag. You can get staple guns reasonably. They do make the job easier and come in handy for other jobs around the house.

I'm a Sunbrella nut!....but.....I use Scotchguard on fabric to repel water. My windows are low E. I did my dinette seats in a heavy upholstery fabric. There's a chair down stairs. The theme is man-cave. I like grey and ivory. The grey is raised velvet I'll probably use that one.

You can use tack nails and a tack hammer to secure the fabric...then hot glue for the double piped edging.

Depending on how the cushions are attached, you might be able to use something other than staples (like tacks as Nicole mentioned) to secure the fabric. If you post some pictures, we’ll know better how to go about it!

Regarding fabrics: I second the recommendation to use Sunbrella (or, if these chairs’ days are numbered, a less expensive Sunbrella-like (acrylic or polyester) fabric.) Because of their wipeability (don’t think that’s even a word), oil cloth and leatherette (vinyl) are also good choices. And while not “wipeable,” denim and canvas are very durable.

I spent some time yesterday looking at Sunbrella's site and Joann Fabrics and found a few that I kinda liked. I took pictures from my phone because I wanted to remember where I had found them for future reference. The pigs were kind of a joke with my daughter who loves everything cow. She has every type of cow decoration known to man along with mugs and clothing. Every year her father buys her more for Christmas. The pigs are her favorite. The walls in the kitchen will be avacado green, by-the-way.

The easiest way is to buy chair covers. Save you a lot of labor. :-)

Thanks Nicole, will look at Fabric Guru site tonight. None of those patterns were on the Sunbrella site that I remember and I went through about 100 pages! I have 6 chairs. Those prices are much better!
