Help with Kitchen colors...

I am looking to remodel my kitchen in the next few months. We are going to be getting all new cabinets, counters, backsplash, appliances, making the island bigger, moving the fridge and creating a new walk in pantry. I would ideally love to keep my existing porcelain tiles HOWEVER I am really struggling with the rest of the design. I am working with a KD however I was hoping to get some feedback from all of you as well. We were thinking a cream color cabinet for the parameter and a warm charcoal for the island but I am open to other suggestions. I would like a quartz for the counter top and we had looked at Carrara caldia however I am not sure if that is too white or not. As for the backslash I am a little confused...I don’t want the whole area to look too “cream colored”. I’m please let me know your thoughts!!!

The countertop sample does not go at all. The other selections are nice.
Care to post your layout? I’m concerned because you said you’re moving the fridge - but it’s in the perfect spot now.

That’s what I thought about the counter top as well....this was an idea of what we were thinking layout wise. Right now we are ALWAYS around the island and it is annoying to get in and out of the fridge especially when we have people over which is quite often.

yes it is cream and staying cream.. that is why I want to change wall color because also painting cabinets a off white. Don’t want too much cream! Thinking about SW Shitake, but someone said light gray would look good.. not sure about grays with creams & Browns in counter too?

I would personally change the lighting, wall color & maybe floor before I would paint the cabinets. Painting the trim would really lighten things up.

I don't have any recommendations except this is my wood kitchens idea book and maybe you will see a color scheme you like. It has both new and older, refreshed kitchens. Not all have the same wood tone as your cabinets, so pay attention to that too. https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/75202366/list/wood-kitchens I tend not to be an accent wall person, especially in the kitchen where there tends to already be a lot going on. I favor a large piece of pretty colorful art over accent color. You look like you have a busy household, and I realize you snapped these pics in the middle of a busy day:) One of the most inexpensive yet high impact changes you can start with is a good kitchen clean out. See if you can find storage for some of the items you keep on the counters and on the fridge. I have limited counter space and found that I needed to just put my spices in a drawer despite my pretty spice holder - along with my knives and other utensils - I simply did not have the space on my counters. Go through your cabinets and get rid of or store elsewhere items not used in a year and possibly find room in a cabinet for countertop space stealing items. Once you do that you will be able to really see your space and decisions will be easier. Before adding a backsplash see if the 4" splash can be removed - it usually can. Then do a simple backsplash - again you don't want to complicate the space. Some of the kitchens in my idea book have dark counters. Look at those for backsplash ideas.

@gabbysmith512 I like your kitchen. I think you have a beautiful space. I would look into what it would cost to have the same wood floors installed and remove the tile. That might create a more uniform space. Once that is done than you might look at a different wall color. But you might not need it as the color you have is very pretty.

So now your island would be in the way of the path from fridge to sink, and the cook would be working at the short end of the island, and people sitting at the island would be in the way of the fridge (unless there’s 5 feet of space between island counter and fridge?). And then what would be the use of the counter where the fridge used to be?
Is that a butlers pantry on the way to the dining room? What about a beverage fridge in there to alleviate congestion? And/or a wider aisle between sink and island?
Sorry, but often people post here trying to remodel to fix the layout that you’re proposing.

No worries at all, I was going to ask advice on layout as well... so there is currently 2.8ft between the island and fridge now, by moving the fridge there would be 4.5ft. It will be a butlers pantry going into the dining room with a wine fridge, the majority of drinks for adults (beers and soda) will be in a separate fridge in the mud room.

Yes that’s tight. Do you cook? Movement in a kitchen is typically fridge to sink to stove. You want to be able to take that path without something (island) getting in the way.

I honestly am not a big cook, I do the basics but that’s about it. We also have 3 small kids who are constantly in and out of the fridge as well. The microwave gets a lot of use:) Is there a set up that you think would be better? Thanks so much for your input so far!!
