If you could see what was in the box I just mailed, you would be shocked, maybe horrified. This from a person who use to sit on the floor with legs crossed and wrap a shirt to look like a shirt on the outside and spend hours on each gift masterpiece. Now, I no longer can get down on the floor....actually, I can get on the floor, it's getting back up that's the problem. I think I horrified myself. However, each gift got covered with paper and yes, the Sharpie came into play. It cost me almost as much to mail the package as it did to buy the gifts, which is why I pretty much just send money and something from Amazon that is shipped directly to recipient. I must say, though, Kudos to the ladies at the P.O. I never saw them move so quickly. I was in and out with 6 people ahead of me, in less then 10 minutes. I did tell them what a great job they were doing.

No gifting so no wrapping :-) Makes life much easier!!

All of my gifts will fit in Christmas stockings this year. Gift cards mostly..no wrapping required. We also decided against putting up a tree this year but I did get a couple boxes of shelf decorations out of storage. They are still in the boxes.

Georgysmom, I wouldn't be horrified. The pandemic has put all . . . well, most of us in a judgment-free zone. Besides, I can't get up off the floor either. In fact, I don't dare try getting down onto it because I can't kneel.

I might have eased up on the wrapping a bit this year but I have three young grandsons (9, 7, and 1) nearby and I want their pandemic Christmas to be every bit as festive as previous years. Amazon will bring my granddaughter's gifts directly to her in Florida.

I usually get gift bags, so much easier. However 2 gifts are in large boxes so will need wrapping. I hope I have enough paper. I will have to get a lot of help from my husband! The couple of other gifts I had sent directly to the recipient from the place I ordered from.

I have leftover wrapping from last year, bought after Christmas, I think. I also had some bows. Been buying tons of stuff on-line so no shortage of boxes, in fact, I need to break some down to put in the garden/recycle bin.

I had plenty of wrapping paper this year but decided against bows, adhesive gift tags stuck on presents and some with an additional tin angel ornament. Heavy boxes only got top and sides wrapped. Everything is wrapped except a few straggling presents still coming.

For the first time in my life, I am giving NO gifts. Not to anyone and only six cards when I used to send 50-70.

LOL I have a BOX chalk full us gift bags...we have used them over and over for YEARS. I even find the to/from tags to match to avoid any extra work. I have always saved my Christmas card and cut them up for tags. In this age of on line shopping, however, having boxes is not an issue!!!

I don't especially enjoy wrapping gifts. Never have. I do have a mega jumbo roll of gold paper and lots of organdy ribbon. Even I can make presentable bows with organdy ribbon ;0)

I buy silver mylar bags in bulk too. A toy store I used to frequent (had the greatest toys and darn it, it's now closed) gift wrapped in assorted sizes mylar bags, did a twist at the bag top and added lots of ribbon. Looks good to me - I copied.

I was just thinking about when I would shop in a store and ask for a box. Or they would automatically give you one. Those days are over. I have lots of shipping boxes, but not lots of shirt boxes. Oh well, we will make due.

All my gift wrapping supplies are at my parent's house in another state because that's usually where I wrap gifts. As a result, I used some colored tissue and ribbon from Amazon, but it looked pretty pathetic compared to my usual wrapping. Also, since I won't be there to fill my parents' stockings, I planned to wrap all their little stocking stuffers, but in the end, the items went into a bag, one for each parent. I ran out of tape and time. Sorry, Mom!

Our family has long had the habit of recycling gift bags and boxes... and yep, using sharpies on wrapping paper. Also gift tags made of tail end paper scraps written in sharpie. Gold and silver are fun, there's also metallic red and green to write in :) There's been years of laughing about newspaper wrapping, brown paper bags, recycled shipping paper... We had a bow for a few years running that was passed around to great fun.

My MIL and I have been trading the same gift baskets for a few years- she fills mine with fave costco food treats, I fill hers with teas and tea snacks, including her fave jellies and jams. After the first couple years, we agreed to stop getting new baskets for filling, and just re-use the same ones.

I have saved boxes from last year. Last year even before Covid, I started to order as much as possible online. When i did go to the store, I would ask for extra boxes.

This year I'm putting a few things in each box, rather than separate boxes. I like this from a sustainable point of view. I will be saving these boxes as well.

I also have Christmas bags. All the ones I use for my family will be collected and used again next year.

Brown grocery bag wrapping paper with satin ribbon, even pieces that were saved from something else, are pretty.

Years ago I started buying one roll of wrapping paper from Costco every other year or so. It is good quality, and economical, especially when wrapping bulky toys. This year, we are mailing checks to our kids and email orders or gifts to grands. I have not needed to wrap one gift.

Guess I am the outlier here. This is the first year that I have been retired so I started wrapping a couple of gifts a day on December 1st. I take my time with them and have even watched YouTube videos on wrapping. I always bought a bunch of wrapping paper, bows, tags, etc. after Christmas, so I have quite a stash. Since our celebration will be so small, I want to make it special. Back in the day, when the kids were in all kinds of activities and DH and I worked full time, it was a given that I would be up until at least midnight Christmas Eve, wrapping gifts!

I haven't even started wrapping yet. I wouldn't be home until Thursday. I buy wrapping paper after Christmas for the next year, so I should be OK there. Shirt boxes I save from one year to the next. Tag and bows are an unknown. If I need some I will just hit the store. I don't understand what covid has to do with wrapping gifts unless you are wrapping them in toilet paper.

Last year one gift was way too big for a bag or to wrap. So I had some Christmas fabric in my stash and made a bag with a pull tie! Everyone was so impressed!

I thought the 2020 ornaments featuring events related to COVID were a good way to commemorate an unprecedented event in our lives. I sent several of them out to friends and family. The ones I sent were similar to this:

I don't see what a pandemic has to do with wrapping presents either. There's no shortage of paper, ribbon and tags. Last week at Hobby Lobby they had plenty of wrapping materials, never can leave with just a few items from there, usually multiple big bags stuffed full.

Some of us avoid entering stores, Raye. I looked at rolls of gift wrap on Amazon but was put off by the prices. We're all different, as I'm sure you've noticed.

Alisande, there is plenty of stores that carry paper and ribbons that do curbside pickup or delivery.

I’m trying to reduce waste so the big presents are going in tea towels tied with recycled ribbon. Small things will be in paper saved from last year. (A habit inherited from my mother. She recycled before it was trendy, due to living through rationing). And I’m not using anything made of plastic foil. Paper only, tied with natural string or recycled ribbon. Tags are made from card cut with pinking shears.

I loved the pandemic wrapping paper Richard posted, and tried to order a different design from Zazzles but gave up. I must be getting crotchety in my older age, but it was too hard for me to obtain simple information like cost of shipping and arrival times without having to create an account to order. Bah humbug.
