After lightening and sharpening your image, they look similar to phorid flies.

We’ve had Hackberry gnats on our windowsills lately and these look similar.

I think it’s hackberry gnats. I posted on another local neighborhood group as well and that’s what people said.

I agree with the likely ID of the Hackberry insect. Do you have hackberry trees in the vicinity? These insects are not gnats, and more commonly go by the name Hackberry Nipplegall Maker, Pachypsylla celtidismamma. They are related to the hopping insects, so your windowsill insects should hop when disturbed. Phorid flies would run around quickly when disturbed.

They do hop kind of like a flea. We don’t have a hackberry tree but I’m guessing the farm behind us probably does or neighbor

The hopping is another indication that they could be hackberry "gnats".

Those little dudes aren't chewing through any screens. :)

I have no idea but it would be helpful in identifying them to have a sense of scale and to know where you are located In the world.

You’re right Fori! article actually says they fit thru window screens not chew. Confused it with another insect I was researching

3 species of hackberry in TX. Also: the town of Hackberry, Texas.

I love these gnats. Idk. They’re my favorite For some reason. At https://proudpests.com we have only dealt with them 1 time though. They don’t seem too common in Las Vegas.

Looks like a type of gnat or fly.

I've been trying forever to identify these.

One of the many plant bugs (Hemiptera).

It does not look like:

any shieldbug or stinkbug

assassin bug or wheelbug

box elder bug (would need to have orange markings)
