undecided about type of screen thinking of using chicken wire or as it is called now poultry netting, any suggestions?

Well, a friend of mine used a beautiful, white wrought iron security door for her back hallway area, to secure the dogs when she's not home. It was a wonderful idea for air flow. I always liked that door.

On the other hand, I don't think chicken wire or netting would look really nice for an interior door... do you have an image of what you envision?

What are you trying to accomplish?

zobeet, The FPE primer will be fine as long as it's covered with paint. Peeling and other issues are caused by dirty surfaces, moisture penetration from backside, etc. If you prepped the surface properly, the primer will not cause any disappointments. Paint over the waterbase with at least 2 coats of quality acrylic paint. Michael

And though Casey is most likely dead-on, it never hurts to prime the so-called pre-primed doors. Imo the issue is the 3 panel style of the front door. It is a common passage door style, so it looks odd next to your 1 panel passage door. Not an easy fix. Assuming you want to keep the door and not replace it, I would paint it the same color as the trim, and leave your office door unpainted. Also, put a peeper in there so you can see who's knocking...

If you're trying for animal containment, make sure your pets are not the type to chew through wires. Chicken wire wouldn't last a night with my choc lab, she'd take it as a challenge.
