DH is just not going to go for a used sofa again though I dont think. :( So I guess it doesnt matter. pamghatten - love that sofa. Is that a natuzzi? I think I saw one similar from them. The back cushions were attached though, so i had ruled it out. That is what is ripping on my current sofas. The seam in the back attaching the cushions to the sofa. I am hoping to go look next weekend. Not sure I will get a babysitter though yet.

I don't see it clashing..black and brown-one of the world's most popular combinations..if it exists in nature a lot it can be in a room too..that's what I believe in these two are interesting colors to bring together, and all the pieces share some very similar sensibility so to say repeat the colors, even if in small things..you know what you're drawn to, in sense of style..I think you'll figure it out different legs wouldn't bug me as long as they have similar though behind them(simple, streamlined in this case..or similar in shape somewhat..)if anything I'd go not for metal but for other material..can't see what the black chair's legs are?..

I agree that the style of the brown recliner is off for the couch and the room, but to your questions, yes, grays and browns can work nicely together. Just look at a forest in the winter. Understand that I have been using gray for over 30 years well before it was trendy-- since way back in 1987 when I painted my kitchen cabinets and the trim work in the kitchen, breakfast room and adjoining den a greige called "Norwegian Wood." In my new house, I am using gray couches (smililar to the one you show) with brown leather chairs (in fact two different browns, one a grayer brown and the other a bit redder Brown, inspired from my fireplace stone that has grays, browns, rusts and camel (or a caramelly yellow color). I did bring in more colors and warmth from the rusts and caramels in the stone with a rug, but also a bit of blue with the rug, blinds, pillows and other elements. I am not a pro and others tastes may differ, but the look pleases me and I find it serene.

Youu can find many resources online explaining placement of mirrors/art and how to balance a space, here is one https://homeguides.sfgate.com/tips-hanging-mirror-over-furniture-100546.html It will help you understand why you felt the space is not cozy or lacking. Essentially that mirror is too small in relation to the size of the couch and just hanging it by itself will not be enough, you will need to add more items to the arrangement. If the mirrror is centered you have no choice but to add left and right of it which makes the arrangement too busy. Further to complicate things it is hung too high so even when you added the other items still doesnt look right. The right thing to do is move the mirror to a side and lower and add something else on the other side to balance it. Or fill in the space bellow it and to the side with items on a shelf. Many times clients notice something is not quite perfect and request help. Much like going to the doctor with your symptoms, it takes a trained eye to diagnose the problem and find a solution. That being said I believe it is very important to also explain to the client the reasoning behind it, hence my above explanation...haha
