Want to replace baseboards, window & door casings
Comments (8)Honestly, if that were my house, I would leave it as is. It may look more disconnected IRL, but it looks fine to me. What I would focus on is replacing the caulking where needed, adding caulk where needed, fixing any dings or dints and do a really nice paint job. Your nice wainscotting adds a lot of interest in lieu of nice big hefty trim. I would hesitate to tear out and redo it to accomodate taller base. You really don't have room for wider door and window trim in some areas. Once the caulk and paint have cured, I would do a nice strait edge with tape and touch up the wall paint - it appears that the trim paint is running up on the walls....See MoreOK?-door/casing dark paint color different from crown& baseboard
Comments (2)I'm not familiar with those shades from BM. But a good friend painted her kitchen cab's an olivey green for the "frame" of the cab's. The doors themselves are black with a bit of distressing. It looks absolutely fantastic. Her adjoining breakfast room has black table and chairs (country french looking) and her walls are an olivey green. In the kitchen, above the cab's (soffit I believe it's called?) is a green in a bit deeper shade than the cab "frames" (also the dining wall color). Wish I had a photo to share with you. It doesn't sound great, but it is honestly so beautiful. When she first told me her plans I didn't voice my hesitancy. Sounded odd to me. LOL! After she painted them, at our next get together with our group of girl friends, we all stood around and oohed and aahed over her kitchen. Everyone loves it! It looks gorgeous! :O) I say if you want to do two tones, go for it. :O)...See MoreBest type of BM paint for interior doors, baseboards and casings
Comments (6)Thanks Brushworks. Just comparing, and what he uses for General Paint has such quick recoat time (4 hours) and it is what he is used to using. I should just get that then. Wondering about colour matching though. I want Swiss Coffee BM colour. Will the tints, undertones etc be different with a different brand of paint? Thanks. Or I can ask him if he uses Aura. Just not sure of the durability compared to what he normally uses. TRIM PAINT painter usually uses...See MoreBaseboards & Casing Question/Dilemma
