First question: what kind of apron-front sink? Some are meant to sit atop a cabinet that's been cut down to recieve the sink. That'd be like the stainless steel or copper ones, and maybe some fireclay sinks with more regular rectangular shape. There's a thread on here (I think bichonlover started it) where Poorowner and I responded with pictures about our stainless apron front sink installations. Here's a picture of my sink. It's in a same-size cabinet with two dishwasher panels on either side. You could get away with not using the dw panels, but I needed them to deal with a spacing issue, and to cut down on dw noise. Some (and I'm thinking about the handmade Shaw's and other fireclay ones) are meant to go into an apron-front cabinet that's had a cutout in the blank apron front to receive the sink. Thus the cabinet has to be wide enough to hold the sink and still have some space on either side of the sink for the cutout. I think I've seen Shaw's owners with 33" sinks in a 36" cabinet, and the like.

A 24" wide sink is bigger than necessary for a kitchen, imo. The giant 36" single bowls kds spec are really only so they don't have to redesign the cabinet layout from the old standard double that requires a 30 or 36" cabinet. The front to back measurement can depend on how wide you want your counter. Your cab can be spaced/blocked out from the wall to allow a 28 or 30" deep counter. More usable for all functions if your design allows it. An 18" front to back, so 24 x 18", fits everything you normally wash in a kitchen. Figure in space for the faucet hole. And any dimension your backsplash needs. You may need to go less than 18". I like small but not zero radius undermount sinks with an offset drain toward the rear. 9" deep is the max for me because of the space for a disposal and the height of the drain pipe if it goes in the wall. @shead sooo funny, indeed we must be. I also have a problem with salt & pepper shakers. I love them. lol I have at least 10 sets out & around. Not counting the seasonal ones. I still have the old Tupperware salt & pepper shaker set in my camper. Handed down from my mom :) See how I tied all that together??!! lol

TheElkay Perfect Drain never needs to be removed to be cleaned. The gap between the sink and disposal flange is eliminated. You may disregard the sink manufacturer's minimum cabinet sizes if you strap, not clip or block, you sink in place. A 24" sink undermounts into a 24" cabinet.
