Advice for furniture type and arrangement: chairs, sofas? Large table?

We’re an overnight summer camp for boys ages 8-15 in New England, completing a 2-story Staff Lodge for our counselors and instructors to use on evenings and time off to recharge their batteries. We have around 70 staff who could use the Lodge but typically around 20-25 would come over at any time.

I’m attaching a drawing of one room—the "Big Room"—and seek ideas on furnishing this as a communal space, primarily for young men ages 18-25 with a handful of young women and older staff too. We’re aiming for versatile, rustic, contemporary comfort with efficient use of space. This Big Room has a spectacular fireplace built out of stones from our property and a small kitchen. The building also has a TV room, a quiet room for work, a bedroom, a game room, and a storage room – so there’s room to space out.

For this Big Room, we’re thinking of seating around the fireplace and, at the other end, a large table (bar height?) with 8-10 stools. The room really isn’t all that big, and I’m open to other thoughts. There will be occasional meals prepared, but everyone eats elsewhere at camp, so the kitchen is more for an individual’s meal here or there, the 11pm snack gang, and the occasional buffet evening.

Our staff is our greatest asset. They work so hard, each one dedicated to making the camp experience rich, unique, and nurturing for each boy. Most return for multiple summers. We’re so excited to get this ready for the 2021 summer. Thanks for any advice you can give to types of furniture and their arrangement to best serve our staff and this space.
