This might be a good transition.. It won't be like "here's your new host", which would shock people, but get us used to Alex not being there. We'll see how Ken does as a game show runner.

I agree. Maybe the best way to find a successor is to try out many and see if one becomes a favorite?

If there's a clock running, Bergeron is not a good choice. He's great with wiitty comebacks but I don't think he would be able to hold the timing of the show. I can see him saying "I can't believe you didn't know that!" ( and you did read that in Bergeron's voice) when nobody responds. Lol

Alex set the bar pretty high. He made the show about the game, timing and underlying knowledge but NOT about Alex. I believe faithful viewers would be happy to see someone keep that mantra. I think it will be a tough job to replace him and think folks should expect a change to how the show is run. There are few famous people who don't think the world revolves around them and fewer who don't want to be the star.

I would be happy with Ken as the host. We’ve watched Jeopardy for years and years

It was something I used to do with my father too, and the different times he was in the hospital and then in rehab. When we knew we were going to lose him, and my sister and I were caring for him, Jeopardy was the only thing he’d make the effort to get out of bed to watch. That was during James H’s run.

Recently Alex talked about children recognizing the theme song. We watch my one year old granddaughter 3 nights a week and when Alex said that I hoped to myself that it happens with her.

Then the following week we got the sad news.

Watching Jeopardy is a family tradition, if you will. My heart and mind will be okay if the baton is passed to Ken. I hope he can do it well because that of course will be the deciding factor.

Dees, it might not even be a famous or known person. It just has to be the right person.

Exactly bpath! The trick is finding the right person. The pool will (generally) start with those belonging to the Screen Actors Guild. Not all SAG members are "famous" but most are.

I think starting with Ken is a great idea. James may be next followed by Brad. Bring the GOATs in to kick it off. Move forward from there.

Tom Bergeron is money! He even made those dumb home video shows tolerable! I think it would be a real twist to go from straight man Alex to funny guy Tom. Time will tell.

I want whoever does it well. Hope it’s Ken.

A number of game shows now have hosts whose background is comedian or at least amusing entertainer.

I hope they don’t do that. I don’t want your comedic banter sidetracking the show. Charisma is one thing, but as dees said above, “Alex made the show about the game, timing and underlying knowledge but NOT about Alex.”

I knew when I first saw Ken, that he would make a great game show host. He is smart and with a great personality. I vote for Ken.

I haven't seen Tom Bergeron in years, but I never would have imagined him as the host of Jeopardy. I don't think I want to.

I believe Alex gave the producers his suggestions, and I'm pretty sure I read at one point that Drew Carey was one of them. That surprised me, but Drew is smart and sensitive, and I could see him bringing the right of gravitas and subtle humor to the show--assuming he'd want to. He might have more fun on The Price is Right.

I can see Ken Jennings doing a great job.
