Ikea hack... Remove center of Besta door front?

  • I plan on creating a unit similar to Photo 1 using the Ikea Besta 3-door frame (Photo 2). I'll be using a jigsaw to remove the the centers of the doors and I can't decide which door style will be the easiest to modify. I can either use the totally flat LAPPVIKEN doors (Photo 3), draw out my rectangle and follow with the jigsaw, or I can use the shaker-style HANVIKEN doors (Photos 4 and 5) and use the inner frame as a guide for the blade. Photo 5 shows what the inside surface of the Hanviken door looks like. I like that I can use the inner frame as a guide, but that would mean that one side of my jigsaw will have no support and I've only used a jigsaw a few times before. Any opinions on which door would be the easiest to work with for the cleanest cuts? Also, if you have a specific jigsaw blade recommendation for this project, that would be great. Thanks!
