Success reading that gravestone at last!!

Turns out we did a good job with that hard-to-decipher gravestone. I went back to the cemetery this afternoon and photographed it again from different angles, under slightly different lighting than before. I can see why the cemetery records assumed baby Charles was an Ames, as his grave is under a large tree where many members of the Ames family are buried. I wonder if he has Ames relatives.

This time I could read his parents' names easily--and we were right! Charles was the son of Alexander & Eliza Anderson. I cleared the debris away from the base and read the line at the bottom: Weep not for me my parents dear.

Many thanks to all who risked their vision to help me with this!
